High Court Orders Police to Probe Betticola Church for the Brutal Killing of Hindu Swamy Laxmanananda Saraswati

HC for re-probe in Laxmanananda Saraswati murder

The Orissa High Court on Thursday directed the police to further investigate the murder of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati on the basis of new material evidences and immediately submit a new chargesheet in the trial court.

Disposing a writ petition by Saraswati’s disciple Brahmachari Madhava Chaitanya and another intervening petition by VHP leader Durga Prasad Kar, Justice M M Das asked the police to re-investigate the case on the evidence provided by Kar and others.

The petitioners had alleged that the police did not take into account the resolution passed by Betticola church in G Udaygiri block of Kandhamal two-three days before the murder.

The petitioners had alleged that the resolution by Betticola church had talked of eliminating Saraswati. They also alleged that a blood-stained sharp weapon found near the pond of Saraswati’s ashram was not taken into account.

Chaitanya had in 2009 filed a case in HC, alleging that the investigation was flawed as a TI parade of the accused was not conducted.

Saraswati, 82, was celebrating Janmasthami on August 23, 2008, when masked assailants, armed with AK-47 sprayed him with bullets.

The attackers had then hacked his right leg and rained blows on his torso. Three of his associates — Kishore baba, 45, Amritananda baba, 62, Mata Bhaktimayee, 40 — and Puranjan Ganthi, 28, brother of one of the girl inmates of the tribal residential school, fell to the bullets. The killings led to a communal riot in the district.

Pastor Shantaraju with a minor girl whom he is said to have sexually abused

A city pastor has been accused by his own wife of being a paedophile and of misappropriating church funds. The charges against K Shantaraju, the 45-year-old pastor of the Bethel Church and Bethel Student Centre in Siddhartha Nagar, Jalahalli West, are being probed by the police after a complaint was filed by his wife Priyalatha at Gangammanagudi police station on Wednesday.

Priyalatha said she deferred filing a police complaint against her husband all these years because she thought it fit to first raise the issue with his superiors. She also believed she could prevail upon him to mend his ways, but having failed she has now provided the police with photos which show Shantaraju in various poses with an alleged minor girl.

“The children who were brought to the centre for the purpose of education are being used for illegal activities. Minor children are being used for sexual activities in the centre. He has sexual relationships with many girl children. I have witnessed these activities. When questioned, he threatened to kill me and my two children,” Priyalatha says in her complaint.

Priyalatha has been married to Shantaraju for 15 years ago. After the death of her father-in-law Moses, her husband inherited the Bethel Church and Bethel Student Centre and she alleges that her husband has been misusing donations from abroad that the centre and church receives.

Shantaraju, who claimed that he has been separated from his wife for 11 years and is fighting a divorce case, denied all charges. “The whole thing is a plot to gain control over the trust and its properties. We used to receive Rs 2.5 lakh per month to provide for 275 children. She has made these allegations to the donors and donations have stopped in the last few months. She has brainwashed my mother and brother and they are also making false claims against me,” Shantaraju told Bangalore Mirror.

“Our second daughter is just seven years old; now explain that,” said Priyalatha, in a curt response to Shantaraju’s claim that they had been separated for 11 years.

Shantaraju also alleged that the photos were taken in 2005 and that his wife has manipulated them to show him in bad light. “The girl is 21 years old now and not a minor. My wife is trying to cheat the law with old photos. I have been called by the police now and I will show them the real facts. I am a trained pastor and my only aim is to continue the good work of my father in helping poor children,” Shantaraju said. Priyalatha clarified that the photos have been in her possession after she came across an unexposed roll of film two years ago. Suspecting something amiss, she got them developed and printed.

Gangammanagudi police station’s inspector S D Chabbi confirmed the complaint and said that a FIR has already been registered and investigation is on. “I do not want to pass any comments on the issue and we are still investigating the matter.

There has been no arrests made. There are two parties, Shantaraju on the one side, and his wife, mother and brother on the other. The wife has complained to donors and they have stopped funding the organisation. We also came to know that they is a marital dispute between them and they are still fighting a divorce case. We are humans first and do not want to make arrests and then investigate,” Chabbi said.

The couple has two daughters and Priyalatha revealed that they have been sent to Hyderabad for their safety. In her complaint, Priyalatha mentions that she is living in a shed in the compound of the centre along with her mother-in-law Shantamma and brother-in-law Vinay Kumar Mathew.

Priyalatha rubbished her alleged interest in getting hold of church property. “His allegation against me of trying to gain property is the latest to hide his sins. He started having an affair with this girl when she was just 14. She got an abortion at the age of 16. In front of me they have lived together. Of course, she is a major now. Other minor girls were also abused by him and had abortions. Their parents are afraid to come forward for fear of spoiling their lives. My own daughter who is 15 years old now has gone into depression after seeing his affairs with minor girls,” she explained.

This is not the first complaint against Shantaraju. An anonymous letter sent to the Karuna Bal Vikas, an organisation in Chennai that funds the Bethel Student Centre, earlier this year had accused Shantaraju of sexually exploiting minor girls in the centre. This letter also had photos of Shantaraju while on excursions with female students.

Priyalatha’s advocate RLN Murthy said that a complaint has also been given to the city police commissioner’s office. “A pastor should be a model to society. Ordinary people look up to him. The allegations here are of a very serious nature. It also calls for keeping a check on dubious institutions which are using foreign donations for nefarious activities,” Murthy said.

Following Bangalore Mirror’s Friday exposé , former girl students and community members of Bethel Student Centre and Bethel Church at Jalahalli come out with more shocking details of his behaviour

Community members gather outside Bethel Church and Student Centre at Jalahalli

The alleged paedophile pastor of Bethel Church and Bethel Student Centre at Jalahalli is on the run. Meanwhile, more young girls have come out with chilling stories of pastor Shantaraju’s sexual perversions. An 18-year-old girl and former student at the centre said, on condition of anonymity, that many a times she had seen the pastor and a minor girl furtively go into the centre’s office room late in the evening and spend a lot of time inside. She also alleged that the pastor would time and again demand sexual favours from other girls.

“It was a year ago. I was here. Uncle (Shantaraju) and the girl went inside his office room. They locked the room. Uncle asked me to stand outside the room and alert him if anyone came. But I told all the older girls who came that the two were inside and I do not know what they were doing,” the visibly scared girl recounted in a tremulous voice to Bangalore Mirror.

She said that the classes went on till 8.30 pm. After dinner the other students would leave but the pastor and the girl, with the attendance register in her hand, would go into the office room. “The room would be locked from inside and she would come out after an hour. We do not know what they did inside. Uncle has also bought her a mobile phone. Even while on picnics we could feel that there was something happening between the two. He would buy her whatever she wanted and they two were always together,” the girl said.

The government has taken the issue seriously and home minister R Ashoka said, “Today morning itself I have directed zonal DCP Revanna to take necessary action. There is no question of allowing the culprit to escape. Several children have become victims of his heinous act and we will not tolerate this. We will arrest him and ensure that justice is done to victims. The case is more serious as the wife herself has complained to the police.”

After Bangalore Mirror’s report on Friday, people of the area and members of the community gathered at Bethel Student Centre and Bethel Church. One of them said: “I used to come to this church. But after getting wind of the kind of things the pastor was doing, I distanced myself from the church months ago. My family no longer comes to this church,” he said.

Another former student at the centre, a 17-year-old girl, said she and other students were aware of what was going on between the pastor and that particular girl but got the shock of their lives when one day the pastor called one of them into his office and tried to molest her.

“After this incident, we just decided to stop coming here. We went home and told our parents that we do not want to study here. We did not tell them any other details,” the girl said.

Vasudeva Sharma, member, State Child Rights Commission, said, “The incident is not only shocking but calls for severe action. The Child Rights Commission can definitely take necessary action in this regard. But if the police have already lodged an FIR and the court already taken up the matter, then as a recommending body we cannot intervene in the matter. However, from the victim’s or children’s point of view we can provide required help like counselling and take up the matter at the policy level for suitable action.”

Yet another girl revealed that the pastor was also in the habit of taking photos of girls on his mobile phone without their knowledge. Then he would allegedly morph these pictures with those of naked girls from porn sites. “There were young boys too who said that he would call them often to his office room and ask them to massage his body,” she said.

Priyalatha, Shantaraju’s wife, who filed a police complaint against her husband on Wednesday, lives in a corner of church compound in a makeshift shack, worse than a hut. “I stay here because after these incidents I opposed him and moved out of the house. But then he spread rumours that I was having a relation with someone else. To prove him wrong I came back.

Today the ACP also spoke to me. He assured me of police protection as I have been threatened by Shantaraju and his two elder sisters,” Priyalatha said.

However, RLN Murthy, Priyalatha’s lawyer, is not happy with the charges filed by the police in the FIR. “The charges filed are under 498(A) and Section 506 of the IPC. These relate to cruelty towards married women and criminal intimidation. These are comparatively minor charges. The more serious charges of adultery, foeticide, breach of trust and faith, misuse of donations to the organisation have been left out. The accused should have been arrested in the first instance when he was called to the station. Now he is gone into hiding. We are hopeful that the police will act swiftly and bring him to book,” Murthy said.

ACP Hanumanthappa confirmed that Shantaraju had gone missing. “He is absconding. We are on the lookout for him and he will be arrested soon.”

The book reveals how outdated racial theories continue to provide academic frameworks and fuel the rhetoric that can trigger civil wars and genocides in developing countries. The Dravidian movement’s 200-year history has such origins. Its latest manifestation is the “Dravidian Christianity” movement that fabricates a political and cultural history to exploit old faultlines.

INTRODUCTION

The Christian missionary mindset is generally depicted as that of simple religious folk with a pure desire to peacefully spread their gospel and message of love. In reality, their methods of propagation are often anything but peaceful and usually leave behind a native population stripped of their culture and often decimated. With Christianity failing in the west, the evangelists seek new and greener fields in the poor and uneducated sections of third world countries, backed by huge coffers from the less zealous, who are nonetheless convinced that to bring civilization and religion to the poor natives is a noble cause, even if they don’t want it. Missionaries often intermix military campaigns with missionary campaigns in their fervor to “civilize the heathens,” who are often simple happy natives, whose only crime is that they are not Christians. This mood of conquering the heathens by any means, at any cost, is supported in the Bible:

“Thou shalt save alive nothing that breathest. But thou shalt utterly destroy them…” (Deut 20)

“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.” (Luke 19.27)

In the words of one resident of Thailand, “They [Christian missionaries] seemed that they did not show any interest for our culture. Why? They are just eager to build big churches in every village. It seems that they are having two faces; under the title of help they suppress us. To the world, they gained their reputations as benefactors of disappearing tribes. They built their reputations on us for many years. The way they behaved with us seemed as if we did not know about god before they arrived here.”[1]

“Why do missionaries think they are the only ones who can perceive God?”

In fact, most of the civilizations which were overrun by zealous Christians in their conversion fervor, were highly evolved in their moral standards, with complex social structures, high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, decorative art and evolved sciences, and content with their own religion.

The arrival of Christianity actually caused these civilizations to move backwards. In this regard we need only look to Europe, for the Dark Ages of Europe is a time when the Church was in control. The Age of Enlightenment (Renaissance) began when the common people were freed from the tyranny of the Christian church.

Christian missionaries have oppressed many cultures, building churches atop temples, mosques and shrines. For example, the major churches in Rome are built atop pagan temples and many historians say that the Vatican itself is built on the ruins of a Mithra (the Roman Sungod) temple. The major Christian holy days are all taken from the pagan holy days. In fact, it is claimed by many historians and religious scholars that the entirety of Christianity is borrowed from other religions and cultures and is fraudulent — Christ is an amalgamation of a number of personalities existing prior to the [presumed] time of Christ. [ See also: The Borrowing Theory ]

CHRISTIAN JUSTICE SYSTEM

Because Christians believe that Jesus Christ suffered for the sins of others, they use this belief for their own purposes by “letting Christ suffer while they, the Christians, go on committing sin and crime.” That is why the Christians go on slaughtering the Non-Christians, totally worry-free and with a totally clean conscience, because Christ will take care of their sins and crimes, and because they don’t have to face the laws of Karma and Re-incarnation or the veritable consequences of these laws. It does not even occur to an average Christian to ask himself/herself a simple question, that if a person commits a murder and he tells the court that his Father will suffer in his place, will the court accept the substitute to suffer the sentence? An average Christian does not even think that if any court accepted this kind of substitution, then the justice system of the world, as we know it, would be totally destroyed and chaos would ensue.

History is witness to the mass destruction of countless cultures, and the almost complete genocide of entire races at the hands of Christianity. History is now proving that most cultures destroyed by Christianity far outweighed in morals and dignity what they were replaced by.

Since the effects of much missionary work, the cultural traditions of a people being replaced by some form of Christianity, are intentional, this means by definition (according to the United Nations) that genocide is the missionary profession: converting other peoples to Christianity and thus destroying them as an ethnical group, and denying the right of native peoples to exist as what they are, with their own culture, language, and religion. For a variety of reasons a massive depopulation, in other words the death of a large percentage of the native population, follows.[2] And this so-called righteous work continues even today around the world in the name of [Christian] humanitarian work.

The plain and simple truth is that people never give up their religion, any more than they give up their children or their parents…except when they are pressured with use of force or are offered attractive allurements. The Christian Slogan that “Faith in Jesus is the only way to Salvation,” besides being totally false, is also totally ineffective, in gaining converts. Trickery, treachery, bribery, and bayonetry, therefore, has to be used to obtain converts. The Christian Missionaries know this blatant truth and Christianity’s brutal and barbaric record of twenty centuries in winning converts, is a testament to the savage methods of Christianity. [3]

‘ The Christian resolve to find the world evil and ugly, has made the world evil and ugly.’

– Friedrich Nietzsche

CRUSADES

Many people think that the crusades were holy wars to liberate holy lands from non-Christians. But few are informed that many of the crusades were against other Christian sects, that many of these Crusades were launched for other purposes, such as the drowning of almost 6,000 Protestants by Spanish Catholic troops in the Netherlands in 1568, the sacking of the German city of Magdeburg in the 17th century, slaying 30,000 Protestants, followed by a 30 year war between Catholics and Protestants in which more than 40% of the population (mostly Germans) were decimated.

Probably the most revealing event was the capture and pillage of the Orthodox Christian bastion of Constantinople by the members of the Fourth Crusade in 1204, creating an animosity between Catholics and Orthodox Christians which has lasted into the 20th century.

In reality, the Crusades were the most ambitious Christian war enterprise and its most conspicuous failure. It was the attempt to force together all the known world and all mankind under the bishop of Rome, the Catholic Pope.

The Christian Crusades inspired the most bloodthirsty cruelty, and the greediest vandalism of medieval men. Politically motivated and fanatically aggravated, usurping all land and decimating all peoples who would not surrender to the Vatican. The Crusaders rolled over all who could not withstand their pillage and carnage like bloodthirsty conquerors.

By the end of the crusades, most European Christians believed the unfounded blood-libel myths — the rumor that Jews engaged in human sacrifice of Christian children. A long series of Christian persecutions of the Jews continued in Europe and Russia into the 20th century. They laid the foundation for the Nazi Holocaust. [4]

WITCH BURNINGS

Of course we have all heard of the Salem Witch Hunts of 1691-1692 and the burning of a number of “witches” alive at the stake by the Puritans. But did you know that the Salem witches were all proven innocent? Of course, this was found out after they were burned. Did you also know that this witch burning, carried out all over the world to the tune of several hundred thousand dead (80% women), was initiated by the Catholic church to rid their dominion of so-called heretics and was directly related to their mandate to re-populate Europe after the Black Death or plagues of the 1300’s, because their serfs were decreased by one third, thereby reducing the Church’s profit by one third, since they owned about 30% of Europe’s lands.[5] The ladies (midwives) were accused of impeding the birth rate — all birth control knowledge was vigorously erased, so much so that 20th century scholars believed birth control was a modern invention. The Inquisitors wrote, “No one is more dangerous and harmful to the Catholic faith than the midwives.”

Pope Innocent VIII’s infamous Witch Bull of 1484, launched several centuries of persecution of so-called witches. Several hundred thousand women, children and men (about 20%) were tortured and burned at the stake or hanged. The Malleus Maleficarum (the Witches Hammer or Handbook of the Inquisitors), available online here as a pdf – http://www.burningcross.net/crusades/malleus-maleficarum.pdf%5D, written by two Dominican monks, was perhaps responsible for more widespread bloodshed than any other publication (Christian or otherwise). The policy of torturing, burning and hanging of supposed heretics has been the church’s policy for centuries, whenever they could get away with it. Between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries about a half a million people were executed for witchcraft, most of them women.

PERSECUTIONS OF THE JEWS

There is a long history of the persecution of Jews by Christians, starting with the burning of synagogues in the 4th century, to numerous killings of Jews who would not convert to Christianity, to the extermination of Jewish communities in many European countries, all the way to a number of extermination camps during World War II in Yugoslavia, headed by a Franciscan Friar and run by Catholics, which were the equal of the German kilns of Auschwitz — killing about half a million people alone in this small country[5.5].

Hitler Himself justified the extermination of the Jews citing the Bible and Jesus:

“My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before in the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice…. And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people…. When I go out in the morning and see these men standing in their queues and look into their pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very devil if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two thousand years ago, turn against those (the Jews) by whom to-day this poor people is plundered and exploited. “:

(Adolf Hitler, in his speech on 12 April 1922)

[Note, “brood of vipers” appears in Matt. 3:7 & 12:34. John 2:15 depicts Jesus driving out the money changers (adders) from the temple. The word “adders” also appears in Psalms 140:3]

GENOCIDE IN RWANDA

Have you seen the Rwanda movie? Do you know that a substantial number of priests, nuns and even Bishops were indicted and a great many were convicted (by war crimes tribunals) for being directly responsible for the senseless slaughter of thousands of innocent Tutsis? Many clergy turned over those who had taken shelter in their churches to the machetes of the Hutu militia. The hatred and division between the Hutus and Tutsis was propagated by the missionaries as favorable for their objectives of conversion to Christianity.

One priest even burned down his own church to kill hundreds of Tutsis who had taken sanctuary there. Two priests were sentenced to death in 1998 for their roles in this genocide and two Benedictine nuns who supplied gasoline for the burning of Tutsi civilians sheltered in their church fled to Belgium where they were later convicted of complicity to murder.

“Sister Maria Kisito, who received 12 years, and her Mother Superior, Sister Gertrude, who received 15 years, were convicted of aiding in the slaughter of some 7,000 people who sought refuge at their convent in southern Rwanda. Prosecutors argued that they called in Hutu militiamen to drive people out of the convent knowing they would be killed, and later provided gasoline that militiamen used to set fire to a garage in which about 500 Tutsis had taken refuge.” (Washington Post, June 9, 2001)[6]

Of course the Catholic Church has claimed their clergy were acting independently of the church, even though much of the most notable genocide occurred in churches and it is well known that the church’s policy has been for centuries to divide and convert, to sew dissention between ethnic groups and then move in and take advantage of the chaos to offer Christian solace and conversion.

In the end nearly one million civilians were butchered.

TAHITI & THE PACIFIC

We all remember the story of Captain Bligh and the Mutiny on the Bounty. However, hardly anyone knows that the crew mutinied because they were so attracted to the idyllic life on Tahiti — the crew was determined to return to Tahiti and not go to England. Captain Cook himself wrote of “these happy islands and the good people on them. ” Further, he later wrote, “It would have been far better for these poor people never to have known us.”

In 1797, the London Missionary Society put its first missionaries on the shores of Tahiti. Fourteen years later they had not made one convert, even though the happy Tahitians provided them with servants galore, built their houses and fed them. Finally the Christians devised an ingenious plan, which ‘converted’ the entire island in one day. According to a letter written home by brethren J. M. Orsmond, one of their own members, they reduced the local chief, Pomare, to an alcoholic and backed him in a war against other island chiefs, supplying him with firearms, to be used against the other islanders clubs. The understanding was that with his victory all would be forced to convert. Then, a reign of terror followed where non-believers were killed. It was declared illegal by the Christians for anyone to decorate themselves with flowers, to sing (other than hymns), to surf or dance. Within 25 years the native culture of Tahiti and the entire Pacific was extinguished.

The attempt to make the Tahitians into service growers of sugar cane failed and the good Christian Mr. Orsmond, deciding that “a bountiful nature diminishes men’s natural desire to work,” had all the breadfruit trees cut down. Such practices, as well as diseases (brought from outside), such as syphilis, tuberculosis and smallpox reduced the original population (estimated by Cook at 200,000) to 6,000 after thirty years of missionary rule.

Their power base firmly established in Tahiti, the missionaries moved swiftly to the outer islands, using the same techniques. They introduced a local chieftan to the bottle, crowned him king and induced him to carry out the Christian’s work of conquering and converting at sword point.

The Polynesians and Melanesian people were also very cultured and intertwined with the processes of creation. They decorated everything with intricate wood carvings and flowers and produced many beautiful things. Yet by 1850 all this was gone, the only remaining vestige of these great cultures were the grass skirts and swaying hips for the tourists. Prior to the Christianization of Polynesia and Hawaii the local dances were mostly performed by men of the priesthood, the Christians turned such dances as the Hula into a sex show for the tourists. The Christian conquest of the Pacific was complete.

HAWAII

Not only did the missionaries and the Europeans bring the Bible to Hawaii they also brought diseases to the native population. The British explorer Captain James Cook’s visit to Hawaii in 1778 is generally credited with the ‘discovery’ of Hawaii but history reveals that others had been there before. Many missionaries followed.

The Hawaiians, like the American Indians, had no idea what private property meant. The missionaries decided the land belonged to them and not the native Hawaiian population. With the help of the American diplomatic representative at Honolulu, the Hawaiian capitol, and the aid of the United States warship Boston, a coup d’etat was implemented. The Boston landed Marines and sailors. The American missionary party formed a provisional Government and endeavored to make a treaty with the United States looking for annexation. Later, when President McKinley came to office the request of the rump Government for annexation was undertaken.

The original missionaries to Hawaii ended up large landowners. Although the missionaries were a small handful of the population they ended up with vast land holdings to the exclusion of the native Hawaiians, who had lived there for thousands of years. Put simply, the missionaries stole their land.

The missionaries did everything possible to destroy the ethnic Hawaiian culture, from banning all Hawaiian religious practices, walking barefoot, and even banning a faultless sport like surfing. Christians [according to the Hawaiians] are said to have introduced the mosquito into Hawaii in the hopes that this would force the natives to wear more clothes. Only in modern times has pride in Hawaiian art, song, dance and religion been revived.

“When the Christians came to these islands they said, take this Bible, close your eyes and pray, so we did; when we opened our eyes all we had was this Bible and the white man had all our Islands.” Hawaiian Kahuna

COLUMBUS & THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS

Christopher Columbus, a trader of African slaves, is best known as the ‘so-called’ discoverer of America. In his personal log, Columbus wrote that, his purpose in seeking undiscovered worlds was “to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the heathens.” [Columbus’ Book of Prophecies]

On his first voyage Columbus described the natives as follows:

“The people of this island and of all other islands which I have found and seen, … all … are so artless and free with all they possess, that no one would believe it without having seen it. Of anything they have, if you ask them for it, they never say no; rather they invite the person to share it, and show as much love as if they were giving their hearts…” But Colombus’ mission was to take the land for Christendom and convert all these peoples to Christianity or exterminate them and replace their culture, hence:

In whichever island he touched (on his second voyage) his men killed indiscriminately whatever animals and natives they found, “looting and destroying all they found,” as Columbus’ son Fernando put it. The natives were either killed or enslaved. Columbus commented in this regard, that the natives “ought to be good servants… and would easily be made Christians,” because he saw his affairs as the “fulfillment of prophecies in Isaiah.” To any objections from the natives, Columbus responded with, “…with the help of God, we shall … make war against you in all ways and manners that we can, and shall subject you to the yoke and obedience of the Church and of Their Highness. We shall take you and your wives and your children, and shall make slaves of them.” [7]

Eyewitnesses recalled, “Once the Indians were in the woods, the next step was to form squadrons and pursue them, and whenever the Spaniards found them, they pitilessly slaughtered everyone like sheep… So they would cut an Indian’s hands and leave them dangling… Some Christians encounter an Indian women, and since the dog they had with them was hungry, they tore the child from the mother’s arms and flung it still living to the dog…” After all, the Indians were only infidels.”

Of Columbus’ second voyage, it has been further written: “The Spaniards found pleasure in inventing all kinds of odd cruelties… They built a long gibbet, long enough for the toes to touch the ground to prevent strangling, and hanged thirteen [natives] at a time in honor of Christ Our Savior and the twelve apostles… then, straw was wrapped around their torn bodies and they were burned alive.” [8]

In less than a decade after Columbus’ first landing the native population of the island of Hispaniola (Santo Domingo & Haiti)— and thousands and thousands of people — had dropped by a third to a half. Before the next century ended, the populations of Cuba and many other Caribbean islands had been virtually exterminated.

NORTH AMERICA

VIRGINIA
The Charter for the Virginia Colony stated that its purpose was to bring the Christian religion to those in ignorance of true knowledge of God.

Historian Edmund S. Morgan compiled the following description from Christian accounts of events occurring in one of the earliest settlements of English Christians, in Roanoke, Virginia in 1580:

“Wingina [the local chief] welcomed the visitors, and the Indians gave freely of their supplies to the English, who had lost most of their own when the Tyger [their ship] grounded.” [9]

“Indian openness and generosity were met with European stealth and greed. Ritualized Indian warfare, in which few people died in battle, was met with the European belief in devastating holy war. Vast stores of grain and other food supplies that Indian peoples had lain aside became the fuel that [later] drove the Europeans forward.” [10]

“Indians who came to the English settlements with food for the British (who seemed never able to feed themselves) were captured, accused of being spies, and executed. Peace treaties were signed with every intention to violate them: when the Indians ‘grow secure uppon the treatie,’ advised the Counsel of State in Virginia, ‘we shall have the better advantage both to surprise them & cutt downe theire Corne.’ ” [11]

Arthur Barlowe, one of the first Christians ever to set foot on Virginia soil, described the natives he encountered in 1584 as follows:

“…we were entertained with all love and kindness and with as much bounty, …as they could possibly devise. We found the people most gentle loving, and faithfull, void of all guile and treason … a more kind and loving people there cannot be found in the world, as farre as we have hitherto had triall.” [12]

Their supposedly Christian treatment of these friendly native Americas was that:

“…we burnt, and spoyled their corne, and Towne, all the people beeing fledde.” [13]

MIDWEST

Greed drove over a hundred thousand intruders into the area by 1825, few of whom were ever expelled. Though protection from intruders was a guarantee to the Cherokee by treaty, which the State of Georgia and the federal government were supposed to uphold it was never given the slightest honor by white interests. Forts were established to police against intruders but what they did was to harass the Cherokee and provide safety and protection for whites from those who tried to protect their families.

The State of Georgia insured no Cherokee would ever receive justice by forbidding the testimony or presence of any Native American in a court of law, period, just like the Nuremberg Laws of 1936 against Jews in Germany. This gave all whites free rein to terrorize, steal and kill any Native person they wanted to. No Cherokee “removed” because they wanted to, it was because the protection they were assured by treaty obligation was never provided.

The missionaries who entered Indian country were sent there to “civilize” the native people. They acquired this position by negotiation through treaty and were given vast amounts of land and guaranteed subsidies administered by the federal government out of tribal money. This money never touched the hands of the Cherokee and most often none was left after missionary, Indian agents, superintendents and corrupt tribal government leaders got done with it.

In 1832 Congress appropriated $12,000 dollars to begin the fight against smallpox in Indian country, 20 years after they did the same for whites. Significantly, actual vaccination expenditures that first year “for smallpox and certain other things” amounted to only $1,786, as opposed to $5,721 for “missionary improvement” and $9,424 for the “civilization of the Indians.” One year later, in 1833, actual expenditures were down to $721. [14]

This is why most Native Americans today who are knowledgeable of their history are pointing out that the United States Government waged genocide against their people. When medicine to heal children and families from a deadly and mortal disease is withheld, that agency which does this crime against humanity is committing genocide.

“Civilizing” meant taking children away from their parents at the ages of 5-12 years and forcing them to live without father, mother, sister or brother in missionary schools, if you can imagine that being done to a little child. This practice was not exclusive to the early years of American history but continued up until the mid 1970’s in this country. Children were beaten and given forced labor during their stay in school. Participation was “optional” but missionaries controlled the annuities of food and trust money through their relationship with superintendents and the military. Families that did not surrender their children did not receive food or payments that were supposed to be guaranteed to them.

Very young children caught in this situation were brainwashed to treat their parents as savages and barbarians and they suffered terribly under this psychological torture. By this method through several generations, Cherokees, like most Native Americans were stripped of the knowledge of their heritage, religious beliefs and trust of their family supports.

This is why it is called a Red Holocaust and fits the United Nations accords for genocide. Any people whose children are taken from them in order to destroy the religious, spiritual, racial and cultural heritage of that people are victims of genocide.

The pressure to build a slave based empire on Native Cherokee soil was highly successful. Thomas Jefferson who wrote the removal policy and openly supported genocide of Native Americans declared, “If ever we are constrained to lift the hatchet against any tribe we will never lay it down till that tribe is exterminated, or is driven beyond the Mississippi… they will kill some of us; we shall destroy all of them.” [15]

Missionary work was very big business. It afforded the building of careers, growth of denominational influence in regions that formed economic bases of support. Churches were established through lucrative payments from Indian funds and lands, which were deeded for use as farms, timber production and for sale in financing further ventures, not the least of which was buying selling and working their slaves. Churches and missionaries were aggressively competing for government contracts among the Native American people all the way up until the 1970’s when Native American Education legislation made it too difficult for the government to sever lands for missionary work without compensation.

To give some insight into the abuse of law that the State of Georgia in the early 19th century used to terrorize the Cherokee, the banishment of “intruders” was only enforced against whites, who stood up for the Cherokee by representing their interests. It was also used by whites through the… spoils system to get rid of squatters whose land was coveted by another white. Those whites who took public stands for Native people in the area were thrown out. Worcester was one such missionary. He returned and was thrown into prison for a year for his stand on Cherokee rights.

It is especially telling that while almost no Indians voluntarily lived among the colonists, the number of whites who ran off to live with the natives was a problem often remarked upon. Historian James Axtell has concluded that the whites who chose to remain among the natives

“…stayed because they found Indian life to possess a strong sense of community, abundant love, and uncommon integrity – values that the European colonists also honored… But Indian life was attractive for other values – for social equality, mobility, adventure, and as two adult converts acknowledged, ‘the most perfect freedom, the ease of living, [and] the absence of those cares and corroding solicitudes which so often prevail with us.’ ” [16]

After a century and a half of permanent British settlement in North America, even Benjamin Franklin joined numerous earlier commentators lamenting that

“…when an Indian child has been brought up among us, taught our language and habituated to our Customs, yet if he goes to see his relations and make one Indian Ramble with them, there is no perswading them ever to return.

[But] when white persons of either sex have been taken prisoners young by the Indians, and lived a while among them, tho’ ransomed by their Friends, and treated with all imaginable tenderness to prevail with them to stay among the English, yet in a short time they become disgusted with our manner of life, and the care and pains that are necessary to support it, and take the first good Opportunity of escaping again into the Woods, from whence there is no reclaiming them.” [17]

Since they were uttered by one of America’s founding fathers, however, the most widely admired of the South’s slaveholding philosophers of freedom, they conveniently have become lost to most historians in their insistent celebration of Jefferson’s wisdom and humanity.” Further references available. CALIFORNIA MISSIONS

The book, The Missions of California: A Legacy of Genocide, edited by Rupert Costo and Jeannette Henry Costo [19] (Indian rights activists), spells out the apparent brutality of the California Franciscan missionaries (and their founder Junipero Serra, who was to be made a saint) against the North American Indians; citing numerous contemporary accounts of the brutality and degrading conditions endemic to the mission system in California.

Interviews from 1985 with eight scholars (arranged by the Catholic Diocese of Monterey in defense of Serra) actually contain the strongest evidence against the mission system itself. The ethnocentrism of the interviewees and their at times embarrassing lack of knowledge regarding Indian ways, leads to numerous questionable assertions. Serra’s supporters generally acknowledge that the methods employed to convert the Indians would be unthinkable for missionaries to use today.

The work of A. L. Kroeber, Sherburne Cook, Robert Heizer (all cited in the text) and others establishes that the arrival of the Europeans was a cultural and demographic catastrophe for the California Indians. Too often it is forgotten that Serra aimed not just to convert the Indians to Catholicism but to eradicate Indian culture as well. It is in this sense that the book’s subtitle. “A Legacy of Genocide” is justified.

Many of Serra’s fiercest critics are individuals actively engaged in efforts to heal Indian society by recovering and honoring the traditional ways that bound tribes together for centuries. The attempt to sanctify a man who dedicated his life to the destruction of those ways is, understandably, galling to them.

Some accounts shed further light on the missions activities:

[T]he Puritan minister John Robinson had complained to Plymouth’s William Bradford that although a group of massacred Indians no doubt “deserved” to be killed, “Oh, how happy a thing had it been, if you had converted some before you killed any!” [20]

And kill them they did… At the mission of Nuestra Sentora de Loreto, reported the Franciscan chronicler Father Francisco Palone, during the first three years of Franciscan rule 76 children and adults were baptized, while 131 were buried… The same held true at others, from the mission of Santa Rosalin¡ de Mulegne, with 48 baptisms and 113 deaths, to the mission of San Ignacio, with 115 baptisms and 293 deaths – all within the same initial three year period.

MEXICO CITY

Unlike European cities of the late 1400’s, which were filled with squalor and disease (most Europeans never took a bath in their entire life, hence the invention of French perfume) [D.E. Stannard, American Holocaust. Columbus and the conquest of the New World, New York/Oxford 1992, pg. 59], Mexico was clean. The twin cities of Tenochtitlan and Tlateloico, know today as Mexico City, maintained high standards: wastes were hauled away by barge and composted for fertilizer, a thousand men swept and washed the streets every day. Refined Aztecs, who bathed daily, found it advisable to hold flowers to their noses when they met Europeans, who made it a point of being filthy. Most of Mexico’s streets were canals and an aquaduct brought drinking water from mountain springs. [21]

Hernan Cortez felt that this was by far the most beautiful city on earth, stated: “All of these houses have very large and very good rooms and very pleasing gardens of various sorts of flowers…” [22] The Christian visitors were astonished by the personal cleanliness and hygiene of the colorfully dressed populace, and by their extravagant (to the Christians) use of soaps, deodorants, and breath sweeteners. [23]

The Mexicans [Aztecs] were tolerant of other peoples, such as the Otomi, who lived among them. These had their own religion, culture, language… tribal hatreds did not seem to exist within the Mexican body politic.” [24]

As a consequence of Columbus’ ‘discovery,’ less than a century after his voyage the city had been sacked by Christians, its buildings and beautiful gardens burnt and devastated. The city’s inhabitants, who before Columbus had known only temporary slavery as a means of judicial correction, were either dead or permanent slaves to a Church-approved colonial feudal government, or directly to a Church which burned at the stake any survivors unwilling to be converted to a religion which even faithful Christians of today could only describe as a hopeless medley of absurd or revolting superstitions – one has only to think of the reliquaries, collections of skulls, bones, teeth, or other remains of so-called saints, enshrined and openly displayed to be worshiped – in any given Christian Church of the time.

THE PHILIPPINES

Shortly after the Spanish American war of 1898, the US obtained legal right to the Philippines via the Treaty of Paris. President McKinley stated that “military occupation of the islands is declared to be to protect the people.” For the president, American duty compelled the US to “uplift and civilize and Christianize them [the Philippines], and by God’s grace do the very best we could for them.” The Filipinos had not requested this, but their will was ignored as was their revolutionary government, and new constitution. The Filipino resistance to this American ‘help,’ was met with military might. The US command stated that, “it may be necessary to slaughter one-half of the rebellious Filipinos in order to bring the other half into subjection.”

Well over 200,000 Filipinos lost their lives in their struggle against American imperialism. The Methodist church, great champions of this war of ‘divine mission,’ did not distinguish imperialism from the mission of evangelization. James Henry Potts, editor of the Michigan Christian Advocate, was so confident of the righteousness of the cause that the human cost simply did not matter and we must “conquer the rebellious Filipinos and give them the blessings of the best administration possible… Those islands are ours.” Propagandists portrayed the Filipino resistance leaders as not representing the general will of the Filipinos, but were dismayed that they continued to resist. After all, Americans “knew what was best for the Filipinos,” they needed American guidance, but showed “no appreciation of the fact that America had lifted the galling Spanish yoke from their necks…” [replacing it, unfortunately, with their own yoke.]

The previous arbitrary cruel treatment of the Filipinos by the Spaniards was repeated by the American oppressors in their new view, as necessary measures to subdue the Filipino rebels. Thus the blame for their violent actions was transferred from the perpetrator of the action to the victim. This became clear when the public learned that U.S. soldiers perpetrated grave acts against mankind, including the brutal torture and execution of prisoners, the burning and looting of Filipino towns and the forced relocation of civilians.

Six hundred saloons had sprung up in Manila, which became over one thousand by 1900, (where formerly there were less than ten) and the armies’ abuses were blamed on alcohol. The Detroit Annual Conference of Methodists focused on temperance and overlooked the heinous activities committed by the army.

The cries of “God wills it,” were the religious justification for the assertion of political power fused with missionary zeal. Reverend William Oldham declared that “the roar of the (American) cannon was the voice of Almighty God declaring (the Philippines) shall be freed.” It was the mission of the Americans to spread the faith, and like the holy crusaders before, military conquest was the first step in this “holiest of wars.”

The eyes of the church were resolutely focused on American Protestant victory against Filipino independence and Catholicism. How far astray these Methodist missionaries had gone, is clearly illustrated by the statement of Editor Potts who proclaimed that the “worst war in the Philippines is yet to come,” since the Protestant missionaries encountered deeply entrenched Catholic beliefs and institutions which were viewed as opposing American principles and systems. Patriotism and Christianity had become indistinguishable and the Filipinos defense was perceived by these Christian invaders as unjustifiable resistance operating under the spell of ‘Satan’s Arts.’

BURMA and THAILAND

Accounts from local residents claim that:

The American Baptist Paul Lewis sterilized more than 20,000 Akha Hill Tribe women in Burma’s Eastern Shan State alone. This was done secretly, and blood was stolen from these women for resale, taken during the sterilization procedure. More than 3,000 of the women died. [25]

In Akha traditional culture, five people serve as the government in one village. This multiperson leadership system in villages was eliminated and replaced by single pastors who rule the villages with an iron fist, allowing no dissent or return to the traditional ways. These changes have sewn havoc amongst the locals.

“There would be no traditional practices, songs, or dances at all now, possibly something would be allowed at Christmas. The woman who practices the traditional knowledge and medicine for the village was stopped. She was told that it was evil and that she could no longer treat people’s illnesses. In the name of their religious beliefs, and quite in contradiction with the spirit of those beliefs, the missionaries are eradicating Akha culture in village after village. [26]

A Thai speaks out on mission activities in Thailand:

“Especially in Thailand, due to the high levels of prostitution, under the name of safeguarding young women, boarding schools for girls sprout up. But then the girls no longer want to marry Akha [non-Christian] men.” [27]

“Regarding religion, at the beginning it seemed to be very good. Later, it turned out to be a division among the people. Some became Catholics, some Protestants, some still holding their ancestors offering while others became Buddists. All these, they could not face to one another. The missionaries often cause dissention in the villages without permission of the village leaders.”

“Now we want to raise a question, how good is Christianity then? If that is good enough, why there are so many groups, teaching about Jesus and yet fighting one another? First they divided our people now they are dividing our villages and families. We seem to be like a prey for them. Better not to have one of them than having all of them.”

VIETNAM

Perhaps, you remember seeing the news videos of Buddhists burning themselves with gasoline in the 1960’s? Do you know why they burned themselves? They were protesting the discriminatory treatment and torture by the fanatical Catholic South Vietnamese government of Ngo Dinh Diem, installed by the U.S. military. With the Vaticans influence, led by Cardinal Spellman, democratic elections were stopped in Vietnam, and Dim installed. This was followed by the ill-fated Vietnam war.

Do you think that the government of the U.S.A. stands for democracy in every country? Actually they are only for democracies that elect a government favorable to or are cooperative with U.S. foreign policies. If they are not agreeable with and subordinate to U.S. interests, then covert U.S. forces make arrangements for other leaders, like Mussaraf in Pakistan, like so many leaders in South or Central America or Diem in Vietnam, to take power.

CHINA

Although most everyone has heard of the Boxer Rebellion in China in 1900, few know that this rebellion was directly a reaction of the Chinese people to the Christian missionaries who swarmed into the country in order to convert the poor, illiterate, and defenseless Chinese. The rebellion was of course suppressed by the countries that were patronizing the converting missionaries.

In October of 2000, over twenty Chinese scholars, experts on history and religion, held a symposium, exposing the crimes committed by the then recently “canonized” foreign missionaries and their followers. Scholars listed a number of facts to illustrate that in modern history the activities of Catholic missionaries were closely linked with the invasion of China by foreign forces.

Prof. Dai Yi said, “Lots of foreign missionaries followed the warships of foreign aggressors to China in and after the Opium War, and actually foreign aggression and missionaries’ activities are combined into one. That is, missionaries’ activities were an integral part of invasion, missionaries acted as guides and tools for foreign aggressors and in return, aggressors paved the way for the missionaries’ activities.” It is the foreign missionaries that should answer for the consequences to their actions because their monstrous evils exasperated the Chinese people and eventually fused the outburst of the Yi He Tuan (known as Boxers) Movement.

Participants in the symposium pointed out that foreign missionaries executed in certain “religious cases,” such as Auguste Chapdelaine, Franciscus de Capillas and Albericus Crescitelli, had only themselves to blame for still being hated by people today, because they had stopped no evil.

The Holy See, disregarding the strong opposition from the Chinese people, “canonized” these infamous missionaries, which reveals the Vatican’s “vicious intention to intervene in China’s internal affairs through religious activities,” the scholars said, pointing out that the “canonization” tramples on the sovereignty of the Chinese Catholic Church, as well as a severe provocation to the 1.2 billion Chinese people.

The scholars all voiced their protest over the perverse and vicious deeds of the Vatican, saying that the present China is strong enough to protect its national security and national dignity and any attempt to distort history and humiliate the Chinese people is doomed to failure.

The Chinese government’s obvious reaction to such Christian preaching activities over many centuries has been to ban all conversion efforts in China.

INDIA

India’s first major contact with Christianity began when Vasco da Gama, from Portugal, landed with gunboat and priests in 1498… The newcomers were not only merchants but also devout Christians ordered by the Pope: “… to invade, conquer, and subject all the countries which are under rule of the enemies of Christ, Saracens (Moslems who fought against the Christian Crusaders in the middle ages) or Pagan….”

Hindus were forced to convert or faced torture and death. Thousands had to flee Goa in order to keep their culture and religious beliefs.

The historian Gaspar Correa described what Vasco da Gama did, thus:

“When all the Indians had thus been executed, he ordered them to strike upon their teeth with staves and they knocked them down their throats; as they were put on board, heaped on top of each other, mixed up with the blood which streamed from them; and he ordered mats and dry leaves to be spread over them and sails to be set for the shore and the vessels set on fire… ” Before killing and burning the innocent Hindus he had their hands, ears and noses cut off.

…”When the Zamorin (head of the Hindu population) sent another Brahmin (Hindu Priest) to Vasco to plead for peace, he had his lips cut off and his ears cut off. The ears of a dog were sewn on him instead and the Brahmin was sent back to Zamorin in that state. The Brahmin… had brought with him three young boys, two of them his sons and the other a nephew. They were hanged from the yardarm and their bodies sent ashore.”

Francis Xavier, a Jesuit Priest, came soon after Vasco da Gama, with the firm resolve of uprooting Hinduism from the soil of India and planting Christianity in its place. His sayings and doings have been documented in his numerous biographies. Francis Xavier, wrote back home,

“As soon as I arrived in any heathen village, when all are baptized, I order all the temples of their false gods to be destroyed and all the idols to be broken to pieces. I can give you no idea of the joy I feel in seeing this done.” The Church had a special way of dealing with converted Hindus who were suspected of not observing Christian rites with appropriate rigour and enthusiasm, or even of covertly practicing their old faith: “…the culprits would be tracked down and burnt alive.”[28]

Xavier called for an inquisition, recorded by historians as being more horrendous and barbaric than any prior to that. Thousands were tortured mutilated and killed. Thousands had to flee Goa in order to keep their traditional culture and religion.

It is recorded that between 600 and 1,000 Hindu temples and shrines were destroyed, but many consider these numbers to be on the conservative side. [29]

Many types of brutal torture were employed by the Inquisitors, such as mutilation of body parts, fire torture and drownings. The details of this torture are too ghastly and horrid to contemplate for any sane human being.

”Children were flogged and slowly dismembered in front of their parents whose eyelids had been sliced off to make sure they missed nothing. Extremities were amputated carefully, so that a person could remain conscious even when all that remained was a torso and a head.”[30]

The archbishop of Evora, in Portugal, eventually wrote, “If everywhere the Inquisition was an infamous court, the infamy, however base, however vile, however corrupt and determined by worldly interests, it was never more so than in Goa. [31]

No body knows the exact number of Goans subjected to these diabolical tortures; low estimates put the number in the tens of thousands, high estimates are in the hundreds of thousands, perhaps even more. The abominations of these inquisitions continued from 1560 until a brief respite was given in 1774, but four years later, the inquisition was introduced again and it continued un-interruptedly until 1812 — the inquisition in Goa wend on for over two-hundred and fifty years. At that point in time, in the year of 1812, the British put pressure on the Portuguese to put an end to the terror of the Inquisition and the presence of British troops in Goa enforced the British desire.[32]

Dr. Trasta Breganka Kunha, a Catholic citizen of Goa writes, “Inspite of all the mutilations and concealment of history, it remains an undoubted fact that religious conversion of Goans is due to methods of force adopted by the Portuguese to establish their rule. As a result of this violence the character of our people was destroyed. The propagation of Christian sect in Goa came about not by religious preaching but through the methods of violence and pressure. If any evidence is needed for this fact, we can obtain it through law books, orders and reports of the local rulers of that time and also from the most dependable documents of the Christian sect itself.”[33]

A proposed celebration for the 500 year anniversary of Vasco de Gama’s arrival in India was fiercly proposed and successfully stopped, bringing together a surprising alliance of Hindus, Muslims, left wing campaigners and environmentalists.

The Gaur-Sarasvata Brahmins were one such sect who had to flee at the hands of the invading fanatics. Now their sect is situated in the state of Karnataka. Leaving everything behind and starting from scratch they are now a very well to do and prosperous community. Their temples rival any in the world. Still practicing their ancient Vedic religion, the Gaur-Sarasvata Brahmins are recognized for their dignity, honesty and contributions to society. This soundly nullifies the idea propagated by the Christian zealots that Hindu religion is heathen and pagan.

Frances Xavier is commonly known as ‘St. Francis Xavier,’ ‘the Patron Saint of the East.’ He is still worshipped, prayed to and honored as the pure representative of Jesus Christ and his gospel by Christians all over the world. There are innumerable hospitals, schools, and other institutions in India named after him. Even today the archdiocese of Goa boasts,

“The glorious chapter of the expansion of the Catholic Church in the east can be said to have begun after the European ‘discovery’ of the sea route to India in 1498. This helped the coming of the European fathers to these lands, one of them being St. Francis Xavier, the great Apostle of the East and Patron of the Missions. Goa is privileged to have been the starting point of his Church work labours and the place where his sacred remains are preserved. Goa was called the “Rome of the East” due to the central role it played in evangelization of the east.” [34]

India today is ruled by a secular government modeled after the western democracies. What many Indians do not understand is that the idea of secular government, first seen in the United States of America, was a reaction to the theocratic tyrannies that pervaded the Dark Ages of Europe all the way to the founding of the American nation. Separation of religion and government were an effort to ward off and prevent any Christian theocracy from taking control in modern times.

Now the Christian tactics have changed, but their underlying premise that ‘Christianity is the only true religion’ nullifies all their attempts of portraying themselves as tolerant and loving. The reality is that Christianity has not changed its theology, it has only changed its techniques of conversion. Christian evangelists are now using vast amounts of wealth (billions of US dollars) to spread their propaganda. Mission activity in India comes in the guise of helping the downtrodden, sick and helpless. In reality the aim is the same — to convert all to Christianity and in the wake destroy all the cultures and religions that lie in the way. There is no need to abuse, attack, or condemn the Non-Christian religions. The plain truth is the Christian Missionaries work with usage of lies, falsehood, and hypocrisy. The social improvement facade is only a camouflage or disguise for conversion work.

Why should the Christian Missionaries want to collect converts? Because it is in the nature of the religions of exclusivity (Islam and Christianity) to try to make every one like them in terms of religion. They have no use, whatsoever, for pluralism or respect for other religions; in fact what they have is pure contempt for other religions. Further, this exclusivity attachment and attitude comes straight from the horse’s mouth i.e. from their scriptures. For instance, in the Bible Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, and Luke 24:46-47 every Christian is commanded to make converts and it is the duty of every Christian to uphold these commands of the Bible.

A glance at their activities in India clearly reveals that the Christian Missionaries denigrate and demonize the Hindus every single day. Hinduism is equated with Devil Worship and Hindus are described as Heathens, as workers for the Devil, and as lost souls who are headed straight to hell.

Now-a-days, in most civilized countries, open and outright utterance of ignoble and unflattering slurs and put downs on the basis of race, religion, creed, or other affiliation is not tolerated because it has been legislated as illegal. But in Pseudo-Secular India, Hindus can be freely insulted, abused, degraded and dragged into mud, by the Christian Missionaries with impunity, without any fear of lawsuit. They freely broadcast their Hate-Hindu, vile and vituperative propaganda into Indian villages and cities.

Because the preacher of Christianity single-mindedly believes his loathing gospels of hate, seeing them as divine commands from his religion, he utters venom and vindictiveness against the Hindu with zeal and with [in their estimation] a clear conscience.

Nearly every single day, rhetoric similar to the words below confirm the reality that Christianity, while posing as a religion of love, peace and tolerance is anything but that.

“These Hindu Heathens have their idols and their superstitions, their idol-bearing temples and shrines where they conduct their noisy foolish rituals and ceremonies. They generate a lot of evil. They are totally ignorant that Jesus Christ came to overcome death. There is a great need to propagate the Christian Gospel amongst them.”

Only now is India beginning to realize what the Christian Mission activity is really all about. This is evidenced in states like Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and in other areas in Northeast India. As soon as Christians become a majority in a given area, they sow the venom of hatred and strife, turning family member against family member, villager against villager and instigate their Christian followers to ask for self-determination and a Christian Homeland. This is virtually the same technique that the Moslems continue to use with success.

As soon as a convert is made, they are greatly encouraged to vehemently and publicly denigrate their previous culture, traditions and everything related to it. This greatly disrupts the entire community and its normal social and economic activities.

Militant Christians in several of these Northeastern Indian provinces have been forcing non-Christian residents to either convert to Christianity or face capital punishment. With death staring at their face, most of the adult members have fled the villages to escape torture, resulting in disruption of agricultural activities. Buddhist leaders of both the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have strongly condemned the heinous carnage committed by the militants on the peace-loving Buddhists and tribal cult followers.

Because Hindus now know what the Christians are up to, it is time to take some serious steps to counter the Christian propaganda and instill pride in Indians across the nation for their glorious past and distinguished Vedic heritage.

CONCLUSION

Christians have always portrayed non-Christian civilizations as backwards, underdeveloped, superstitious, and barbaric. What really underlies all of their criticism is that these cultures do not accept Jesus, the Bible and their western way of life. This is what, in the Christians’ opinion, deems these cultures as needing their help, when in fact the their fervor to destroy any theistic conception other than Christianity or any temple other than a church shows that they are really the ones who are showing the qualities of barbarians.

Today, many are uninformed and believe that mission excesses only took place in prior times and today’s preaching works are a ‘good thing.’ But as long as the basic premises and theology that underly all the abuses that took place in the past are not corrected, the result of mission activities will remain the same: Genocide and destruction of all that lies in its way, replacing it with the ‘superior religion and culture’ that most missionaries believe they are delivering.

In retrospect, these various ethnic cultures were far better off before the introduction of Christianity, as it had nothing better to offer them. In reality, these cultures were decimated, their histories were erased, their cultural traditions eradicated, their former religions destroyed and they were left more unhappy than before the arrival of Christianity.

There have been many revisions in the teachings of Jesus Christ since it first took hold some 2,000 years ago. But until the xenophobic and iconoclastic teachings of the Bible are corrected, mission activity will yield the same catastrophic results. As taught in the Bible, ‘we can know a tree by its fruit,’ these evangelists need to adopt a more pluralistic theology, recognizing the divinity in other religions and the contributions of other cultures and further recognize that theirs is not the only path to salvation. Suffice it to say, until these things have been corrected, that to label such endeavors for Christ as good works or pious activity is wrong.

Otherwise, in this modern age, those deemed with good intelligence, who are advanced in philosophy and science, have no other choice than to condemn these preaching activities worldwide, which seek to destroy ethnic cultures. Mission activities need to be monitored and the conversion agenda needs to be reconsidered.

David Stannard in American Holocaust, The Conquest of the New World, Oxford Press 1992, page 120 expands further, “These were not offhand remarks, for five years later, in 1812, Jefferson again concluded that white Americans were obliged to drive the ‘backward’ Indians ‘with the beasts of the forests into the Stony Mountains’ and one year later still, he added that the American government had no other choice before it than ‘to pursue (the Indians) to extermination, or drive them to new seats beyond our reach.’ Indeed, Jefferson’s writings on Indians are filled with the straightforward assertion that the natives are to be given a simple choice — to be extirpate(d) from the earth’ or to remove themselves out of the American’s way.’ Had these same words been enunciate by a German leader in 1939 and directed at European Jews, they would be engraved in modern memory.

In India the mischief of the missionaries spreading like cancer everywhere

http://in.rediff.com/news/2008/oct/03terror.htm

in India I can see the mischief of the missionaries spreading like cancer everywhere.
by vikas jindal on Oct 04, 2008

It is a multi billion dollor business of conversion. Everybody in it is only for the sake of money and it has nothing to do with what people in the west want to believe as “helping the poor”.

India has since ages been a tolerant society because of its Hindu ethos of tolerance and acceptance of all faiths.

But with billions of dollors being poured to exploit the poor in the name of christianity and by spreading hatred towards other religions, the country is being forced towards intolerance and hatred.

I sincerely hope people in the west understand that one cannot buy people’s soul with money and stop abetting this wretched business of religious conversion.

Two priests, nun hacked Sister Abhaya to death with axe in loving Christian manner

This is the Christian filth that is crying rape in Orissa.  Rape, murder, paedophilia, genocide  are second nature to these priests. WE saw it in Goan inquisition, in Jewish holocuast and recently in the Rwandan genocide. Christian love just shhhines through.

Sister Abhaya was hacked to death with axe: CBI
From correspondents in Kerala, India, 05:01 PM IST

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the 1992 murder of Sister Abhaya, told a court here Tuesday that she was hacked to death with an axe by the two priests and a nun arrested in the case, 16 years after her death.

On Nov 19, the 13th team of the CBI set up to probe the case – after 12 earlier teams failed – arrested Father Jose Putarika, 56, a former Malayalam professor at a Kottayam college where Abhaya studied; Father Thomas Kottor, 61, the Diocesan chancellor of the Catholic Church at Kottayam; and Sister Seffi, who was a resident of the convent when the incident took place.

Counsel for the CBI Anil Kumar told the chief judicial magistrate court here that the three accused hit Abhaya using an axe after she saw something that may have been unbefitting of them.

Abhaya, a resident of Pious X Hostel, was found dead in the well of the Kottayam convent March 27, 1992.

The three accused were produced before the court after their remand period ended Tuesday. The counsel also informed the court that the investigating agency did not need the custody of the three as the case was almost solved.

‘Everything will be over in two weeks time and the final report will be filed by then,’ said Kumar.

The three accused, meanwhile, told the court that they had been tormented in custody. The magistrate immediately asked them if they were given food, medicines and if they were physically tortured.

The three said no and the magistrate later sent them to judicial custody till Dec 16.

Deceptive conversions through Christian charity organizations – need for government investigations

Conversations with foreign-funded charity
Sun, Oct 12 02:58 AM
http://in.news.yahoo.com/48/20081012/1241/top-conversations-with-foreign-funded-ch.html

Has the time come for the Government to set up a National Commission to investigate religious conversions in India? Certainly. Let the Nation know how many conversions have taken place from-and into-Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism and other faiths since 1947. Let the commission throw light on the districts where, and how, significant changes in religious demography have taken place, and whether conversions have created resentment and social disharmony in their wake.

An unbiased commission would reveal three irrefutable facts: (1) Christianity accounts for the largest number of
converts; (2) Christian organisations conduct service activities-schools, hospitals, poverty-alleviation programmes, relief during calamities, etc.-with exemplary dedication and professionalism. However, some of them, though not all, make the conversion agenda a part of their seva agenda; (3) Foreign funds supporting these charitable activities have greatly aided conversions.

Take, for example, the following information, pertaining to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), available on the website of the Union Home Ministry. During 2005-06, Rs 7,877 crore was received by way of foreign donations to various NGOs, up from Rs 5,105 crore in 2003-04. Tamil Nadu (Rs 1,610 crore) and Andhra Pradesh (Rs 1,011 crore) were among the highest recipients. The highest foreign donors were Gospel Fellowship Trust USA (Rs 229 crore), Gospel for Asia (Rs 137 crore), Foundation Vincent E Ferrer, Spain (Rs 104.23 crores) and Christian Aid, UK (Rs 80.16 crores). The largest recipients were World Vision (Rs 256 crore), Caritas India (Rs 193 crore), Rural Development Trust Andhra Pradesh (Rs 127 crore), Churches Auxiliary for Social Action (Rs. 95.88 crores) and Gospel For Asia (Rs. 58.29 crore). The funds received by some of these organisations have trebled or quadrupled in just three years since the formation of the UPA Government.

If the official Christian population in India is barely 3 per cent, why do Christian NGOs receive the largest share of foreign funds? From Christian organisations that are known to support evangelism in many Asian countries?

In my travels in Karnataka, my home state, I have seen significant conversions to Christianity having taken place in recent years wherever World Vision and other foreign-funded NGOs started their charitable activities. Kannada newspapers in the past few weeks have carried graphic accounts of how proselytisation is packaged with charity, especially targeting vulnerable sections of society. There is resentment in Assam against World Vision’s flood-relief operations in Majuli, a large island in the Brahmaputra and a sacred seat of the Vaishnava monastery of Sankara Deva, the great reformist saint.

Tripura is one of the Indian states where, as the CPI(M) Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has himself acknowledged, the foreign-funded Baptist church supports subversive activities, including the conversion of tribals. The church-backed separatist outfit, National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), gunned down 16 Hindus at a marketplace in West Tripura district on January 13, 2002, on the eve of Makar Sankranti, an incident that went largely uncommented by the national media.

The Internet has many reports about Buddhist resentment against World Vision and other evangelical bodies operating in Mongolia, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar and even Tibet, “using unethical methods, under the guise of being charitable organisations, to buy converts in Asia”. The Australian, a leading newspaper of Australia, reported on December 24, 2005: “Tensions between Muslims and Western aid workers have begun to erupt in Aceh as the tsunami-devastated Indonesian province (where 170,000 people died) slowly recovers. Islamic activists have claimed that aid workers are secretly attempting to convert Muslims to Christianity, pointing particularly to World Vision, the International Catholic Mission and Church World Service.”

Lt Col A.S. Amarasekera, a Sri Lankan Buddhist activist, has expressed the following fear: “While everyone is focusing their minds on the LTTE problem, we Sinhalese Buddhists are pitted against another force as dangerous: the dangers that the Sinhalese Buddhist way of life will have to face due to conversions in the near future. What happened in South Korea, where the 80 per cent Buddhist population was reduced to 18 per cent in five decades, will be repeated here¿ It (is) proved beyond reasonable doubt that World Vision, an American-funded Christian evangelical organisation, was surreptitiously trying to convert Sinhalese Buddhists into Christianity.”

The recent attacks on churches in Orissa and elsewhere have been justifiably condemned by all patriotic individuals. However, as I stated in my column last week, a distinction must be made between a violent campaign against our Christian brethren and a non-violent, democratic campaign against organised conversions using foreign funds. I happened to participate in a remarkable inter-religion conference on conversions organised by the Vatican in collaboration with the World Council of Churches, Geneva, a Protestant body, in Lariano (Italy) in May 2006. Let me mention here some of the recommendations in a report unanimously adopted by the conference.

• “While everyone has a right to invite others to an understanding of their faith, it should not be exercised by violating other’s rights and religious sensibilities. At the same time, all should heal themselves from the obsession of converting others.”

• “Freedom of religion enjoins upon all of us the equally non-negotiable responsibility to respect faiths other than our own, and never to denigrate, vilify or misrepresent them for the purpose of affirming superiority of our faith.”

• “Errors have been perpetrated and injustice committed by the adherents of every faith. Therefore, it is incumbent on every community to conduct honest self-critical examination of its historical conduct as well as its doctrinal/theological precepts. Such self-criticism and repentance should lead to necessary reforms inter alia on the issue of conversion.”

• “A particular reform that we would commend to practitioners and establishments of all faiths is to ensure that conversion by ‘unethical’ means are discouraged and rejected by one and all. There should be transparency in the practice of inviting others to one’s faith.”

• “While deeply appreciating humanitarian work by faith communities, we feel that it should be conducted without any ulterior motives. In the area of humanitarian service in times of need, what we can do together, we should not do separately.”

• “No faith organisation should take advantage of vulnerable sections of society, such as children and the disabled.”

• “We see the need for and usefulness of a continuing exercise to collectively evolve a ‘code of conduct’ on conversion, which all faiths should follow.”

Why shouldn’t there be a sustained and sincere all-religion debate in India on an anti-conversion law in the spirit of the above recommendations?

Christians from Tamil Nadu planning conversions in 7 districts of Punjab to be sponsoring the mission field work, ultimately all 18 to be covered: destruction of Indian religions!

Here is a beastly Christian website mentioning all their plans to evangelize all over India. If such activities are not stopped, there will be widespread instability and communal violence spearheaded by the Christian church which is bent on destroying non Christian communities.

Have a look at this website and their preparations

http://www.imschennai.com/chennai_branch.html

CHURCH PLANTERS FOLD:
Chennai Branch will be sponsoring the mission field work in 7 districts of Punjab now and will ultimately sponsor all the 18 districts of this State. To sponsor one district we require Rs.20000 per month. To adopt a village-Rs.500, a Block-Rs.2000 or support a missionary-Rs.2500 per month.

Cost of a motor bike=Rs.40000.

We encourage the local leaders to train the believers to spread the good news and release the power of Jesus. The Kingdom of God is at hand.

During October 8th – 15th, 2008, 30 Members of Our Branch went on Mission Field tour to Rajashthan(Sagwra), Gujarath (Dudhia), Mathyaprathesh (Kedawath).

The proceeds of the sales from Hindu children goes to other states to convert poor gullible Hindus. Hindus should be made aware of the deceptive tricks Christian monsters indulge in

CHILDREN TO CHILDREN PROGRAMMES:
These programs are held every year in all the zones of Chennai (North, South, East and West). Christian Matriculation Schools of each zone participate in this. The children of these schools enact dramas, sing songs and give other performances on Christian and missionary themes. The proceeds from the sale of tickets for these programs go for schooling and hostelling of poor & under privilege children in IMS Hostels in various states of India. The schools adopt some of these children in our mission fields with their monthly financial support. The better placed city children learn to support the less fortunate children.

Evangelical provocation in Karnataka

Evangelical provocation in Karnataka (Organiser, 28-9-2008);

In the name of religious freedom, the various churches are playing a dangerous game, fishing in troubled waters while the governments at all level are preoccupied fighting terrorism. Archbishop Bernard Moras gave an ill-tempered performance before the media berating the Karnataka CM for not protecting churches. So the security forces are forced to divert attention from fighting the menace of terrorism to protecting the trouble-makers whose conversion activities are responsible for the disturbances. This way they want to take advantage of the uncertainty created by the terrorists to weaken the government and advance their anti-national agenda. All this is purely subversive political activity that has nothing to do with religion, much less spirituality. The fact that some Congress and Janata Dal (S) politicians are willing to be their stooges only shows that they have no concern for the nation. All this shows that the various Christian outfits are acting like political parties after power and pelf rather than spirituality. By no stretch of the imagination can people like Sangliana, John Dayal and their ilk be regarded as religious leaders. They are political propagandists and should be treated as such. In the circumstances the proper thing to do is to make compulsory Christian institutions to register as political parties. Since most of them have foreign roots, they should also be treated as lobbyists for foreign interests.

The Curse of conversions in Ulhasnagar. Christianity destroying Hindus brick by brick

The nation is facing the curse of conversions. In Ulhasnagar, missionary activity is at an all-time high. It has been going on for few years, but now it is unstoppable. Some people who complained against it are themselves being harassed. I request you to pass around the information and let’s help in any possible way. The missionaries combining the usual false promises of ‘miracle cures’, ‘moral guidance’ and ‘economic relief’ are trying to convert the poor to their missions. In the old days, it was churches, which were centres of conversion. Now they have been replaced by a curious entity called ‘prayer hall’. As an example, in Ulhasnagar, as in other places, it occurs that homes of those who have converted acts as these ‘prayer halls’. Let us work to put a stop to this conversion by missionaries for whom a ‘derooted’ Hindu is a desired Hindu. The Dangs district in Gujarat comes to mind, where there were only Vanvasis first and today it is a hotbed of conversion. In that case the local state administration is tackling the issue with a stern hand. And the activists of various social organisations are running a ‘Return to Roots’ programme for the welfare of the Vanvasis.

A Christian plot to conquer India by conversion

A plot to conquer India by conversion
By JG Arora

http://www.organiser.org/dynamic/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=261&page=22

Hindus in India and Nepal are prime targets for this harvest of faith. Even if old horrors like Goa Inquisition (1560 to 1812) heaped on Hindus by the church are kept aside, what is happening now is equally horrible.

The so-called ‘secular’ India has proved to be a disaster for Hindus. To prevent the creation of more Pakistans and Bangladeshs on Bharat’s soil by countless Pak-Bangla terrorists and infiltrators, and to prevent more Hindu lands (like North-East India) going to missionaries, ‘secular India’ has to be transformed into ‘Hindu Bharat’.

Since Bharat has forgotten its ancient Sanskrit adage, “Shathe shaathyam samaacharet” (treat the wicked in his own wicked way), its tormentors are having a free run.

Expansionist forces are waging a relentless war to demolish Hinduism and Hindu civilisation the way they have already wiped out many native religions and cultures from Europe, America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, numerous Islands and parts of Asia.

On August 23, 2008, just before Krishnajanmashtami, an important Hindu festival, 84 years old Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and four other Hindu sages were gunned down in girls hostel at Kandhamal in Orissa. Their only crime was that they were resisting fraudulent conversions by foreign-funded Christian missionaries.

At present, the worst problems faced by India are the demographic invasion by crores of Pak-Bangla infiltrators, and conversion of Hindus to Christianity through fraud and charade of charity by missionaries.

If Pak-Bangla combine wants to Islamise India through countless terrorists and infiltrators, missionaries want to Christianise India through unlimited foreign funds.

Unilateral war
Though religious freedom can never mean the freedom to convert; and though in 1977, vide its judgement reported as Rev. Stainislaus v. State of Madhya Pradesh (AIR 1977 SC 908), the Supreme Court held that Article 25 (1) of Indian Constitution does not grant any right to convert any person to one’s own religion, there is no halt to aggressive evangelisation.

While addressing missionaries in New Delhi on November 7, 1999, the late Pope John Paul II gave a call to convert Asia to Christianity as follows:-

“Just as the first millennium saw the cross firmly planted in the soil of Europe, and the second in that of America and Africa, so may the Third Christian Millennium witness a great harvest of faith on this vast and vital continent.”

And his successor and present Pope Benedict XVI reiterated conversion agenda with the words, “The church is by its very nature missionary; its first task is evangelisation.”

Hindus in India and Nepal are prime targets for this harvest of faith. Even if old horrors like Goa Inquisition (1560 to 1812) heaped on Hindus by the church are kept aside, what is happening now is equally horrible.

Having already conquered North-East India, many global missionary organisations are sending enormous funds to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in India for converting Hindus to Christianity through fraud, allurement and coercion.

Reinhard Bonnke, the global evangelist famous for his crusades in Africa, has diverted his attention to India. Pat Robertson, the American founder of Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), also wants aggressive evangelisation of India.

Missionaries are far superior in marketing than any MBA. Within a few decades, they converted Buddhist South Korea into a Christian majority country. And they want to repeat that success in India.

Conversion blitzkrieg
Missionary activity in India is aimed at destroying Hindu religion and culture; and has nothing to do with spirituality. While many Hindu religious leaders are parroting the dangerous falsity that all religions are the same (sarvadharmasambhav), missionaries are demolishing Hinduism by converting Hindus.

Several global missionary organisations were running a co-ordinated conversion campaign in India known as AD 2000. These activities were later brought under the Joshua Project.

Joshua Project is a war-like project to invade and Christianise India. It has collected the necessary population data about each village and town in India, and has prepared the area specific strategy to bring maximum conversions.

All over India, churches are being built even in remote villages (with no Christian population) to Christianise the local populations. Entire India is facing a blitzkrieg of missionary aggression.

As reported in a section of media, D. Ron Watts, a Canadian missionary and Dorothy Watts, his American wife, and their cohorts have converted several lakhs of vulnerable Hindus to Christianity in Andhra Pradesh during the last few years. Though they came to India on Business visas, they were engaged in conversions violating their visa terms.

Tamil Nadu government’s revocation of anti-conversion law has further boosted conversions in Tamil Nadu.

Missionaries are targetting Sikhs too; and after converting 56 Sikhs to Christianity at Goindwal Sahib, a Sikh holy place in Punjab in 2005, they have stepped up such activities.

Fraudulent exploitation
Conversion of vulnerable Hindus through fraud and inducement is a big industry in India employing hundreds of thousands of missionaries wearing the mask of social service. More Hindus they convert, more money they get.

In his write-up, “The war against Hinduism”, Stephen Knapp has described various subterfuges employed to get convert to Christianity in India. Missionaries give loans to vulnerable Hindus who cannot repay. The said loans stand waived the moment the debtors become Christian. And more rewards await those who bring more Hindus to the church. He has also described stage-managed mass healings for mass conversions. And then there are “miracle boxes” kept in churches where the poor can write their wishes which are fulfilled to bring them to Christianity.

To induce conversions, some missionaries bear Hindu names, dress like Hindu sannyasis, and call their organisations Ashrams.

Evangelists treat natural calamities as opportunities to purchase new converts. They offer relief to helpless victims of tragedy in exchange of their religion. Tsunami that struck Tamil Nadu in 2004 saw mass proselytisation of vulnerable Hindus. At some places hit by tsunami, Christian groups refused to give relief supplies when the victims refused to change their faith.

Predators or ‘victims’?
Missionaries pretend to be ‘victims’ if their predatory attempts at proselytisation are resisted.

Recent circulation of a number of contrived stories about the alleged attacks on Christians in mainstream anti-Hindu media suppresses the fact that Hindu reaction in Orissa was triggered by the murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, and in Karnataka by denigration of Hindu gods in the book, Satya Darshini— distributed by some missionaries.

Unfortunately, most of the mainstream media in India is anti-Hindu, and hides missionary aggression. But it dubs those resenting this aggression as ‘communal’. While the said media ignored the outrageous murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati, as also the denigration of Hinduism in Satya Darshini, it over-blew the natural Hindu reaction following these appalling attacks on Hindus and Hindu faith.

Way out
Since those who behave like sheep, are eaten by the wolves, much of the injury suffered by Hindus is self-inflicted by their capitulation before their tormentors.

Ever since 1947, Indian government’s policy of perverse secularism (which in reality means anti-Hinduism) has been leading to gradual liquidation of Hindu Bharat.

The so-called ‘secular’ India has proved to be a disaster for Hindus. To prevent the creation of more Pakistans and Bangladeshs on Bharat’s soil by countless Pak-Bangla terrorists and infiltrators, and to prevent more Hindu lands (like North-East India) going to missionaries, ‘secular India ’ has to be transformed into ‘Hindu Bharat’.

Logically, in 1947, on India’s Partition on religious basis and creation of Pakistan as demanded by Muslims, Bharat should have been declared a Hindu nation. But the problem can be solved even now by declaring Bharat a Hindu country. No one can object to Bharat being declared a Hindu nation when all the 57 Muslim-majority countries are declared as Islamic countries, and many Christian majority countries are Christian countries.

Hindu Bharat will give justice to all and appease none. In Hindu Bharat, there will be one law and one nation; no distinction of majority and minority; and no discrimination, whatsoever, against any community.

Apart from protecting Bharat’s Hindu identity, Hindu Bharat will crush the daily Pak-Bangla terrorist attacks and demographic invasion, as also foreign-funded missionaries’ conversion menace. Hindu Bharat will ban the inflow of foreign funds meant for subversion and conversion, and will also ban conversions effected by fraud, allurement or coercion. Hindu Bharat will also remove laws which discriminate against Hindus.

Accordingly, for the very survival of Hindus and Hinduism, all pro-Hindu individuals and organisations must unite to transform India into a Hindu nation by all peaceful, constitutional and lawful means.

Hindu Bharat will ensure that Hinduism survives and prevails. And that will be the apt tribute to Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and his associates who sacrificed their lives while defending Hinduism.

Christians paid Maoists to brutally kill 80 year Swami Laxmanananda

Western readers may not be able to glean from the message who this unmentioned community is which was involved in the brutal killing of the 80 Swami and four others.

Indians who are used to the pseudo secularism of mainstream English media, can read between the lines and figure out which community conspired and hired the maoists to carry out the heinous deed so as to remove the Swami who was an obstacle to their coversion activities and destroy Hindu religion.

‘Maoists hired to kill Laxmanananda’

Bhubaneswar, PTI:
In a major breakthrough the Orissa police on Thursday claimed that the mastermind behind VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati’s killing had been identified as a group had hired the Maoists to execute the crime.

“Maoists were given money to train certain youths of a particular community to eliminate Saraswati,” Inspector General (IG) of Police, crime branch, Arun Ray told PTI asserting the mastermind of the killings had been identified.

Stating the mastermind had fled Orissa, the IG said, “We will trace them soon.”

The plan to eliminate Saraswati was made immediately after the December 2007 communal violence in Kandhamal, he added.

Elaborating the probe by the crime branch, he said investigations also showed that a group had collected money from some villages in Kandhamal which was given to the Maoist group to train their youths for the purpose. At least 60 youths were given arms training by Maoists, the IG said dwelling on the inputs from three arrested persons.

Ray said members of a particular community were unhappy with Saraswati and held him responsible for the riots which took place during Christmas in 2007.

They requested a Maoist group to assist them in killing Saraswati, he said.

Confirming that six Telugu-speaking persons fired at Saraswati and others, the crime branch investigation revealed that the trained group were guarding the ashram at Jalespeta in Kandhamal during the incident.

Refusing to divulge identity and religion of the mastermind behind the killing which sparked communal violence in Kandhamal, IG said Maoists only executed the crime.

While the motive behind Saraswati’s killing was clear, the sleuths gathered evidences against people who planned the crime not realising that it would trigger such a largescale violence, he said.

Dangerous Christian demand for Kandhamal to be split: A prelude to separating from India and genocide of Hindu minority people and religion

The demand for partition of the district shows how great a danger nefarious missionaries pose. They start out providing with social services, and talk about the love and justice of Jeus Christ,  induce unethical conversions through hook and crook  and end up with call for seperation with attendant violence, terrorism, division of society forcible conversion of non christians or if that is not possible genocide as historically witnessed in the Americas and other parts of the world.  Converted Nagaland in India with their slogan Nagalim for Christ is already demand a separate nation.

Christian missionary activity have to be recognized for what it is — extremely toxic, hateful, divisive, vile and harmful,  for the Indian state and derogatory and destructive  of local culture, norms and people.  It will spell the death of peace, harmony, stability that once characterised the region before the advent of violent genocide pro Christians.

Split Kandhamal district: Christians
From S T Beuria, DH News Service, Tikabali (Kandhamal):

The recent chain of incidents in Kandhamal has forced local Christians to put forward a demand for division of the tribal dominated district and creation of two districts out of it – one for them and another for the Hindus.

They have already submitted a proposal in this regard to the state government. The authorities, however, are yet to react on the demand.

“We want a separate district for us so that we can live happily and peacefully. We have already submitted a memorandum in this regard to the governor during his recent visit to Kandhamal”, said Lal Mohan Digal, an inmate of the Tikabali relief camp set up by the Kandhamal district administration for Christian riot victims.

Several other Christian villagers sheltered in the Tikabali relief camp have also expressed similar sentiments and said they will prefer a separate district as they realise that it may not be possible for them to go back to their respective villages with Hindu co-villagers. They added that hardline Hindu groups have threatened them not to return to their homes as they (the Hindus) want a “Christian-free” Kandhamal.

“The government is not doing anything to settle the matter. Therefore, the best option will be to divide Kandhamal and create two separate districts of Hindus and Christians”, said Julian Digal, another inmate of Tikabali camp.

No normalcy
The Christian villagers in the relief camps rejected the Orissa government’s claim that normalcy was returning fast to the riot-hit villages and many victims had already gone back to their respective homes.

According to Kandhamal district administration, earlier there were thirty thousand riot victims in different relief camps.

The number has now reduced to a little over ten thousand.

The camp inmates admitted that many riot victims had left the relief shelters. “However, they have not returned to their homes. They have fled to more safer places like Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Many of them have also fled to other states”, said Subash Digal, who was working as a pastor in a Church.

Rejected
Meanwhile, the Orissa government has rejected the Kui Samaj co-ordination committee’s demand to withdraw the CRPF from Kandhamal.

Another demand of the Kui Samaj, a powerful organisation of the tribals in the troubled district, to transfer the recently appointed Chief administrator for Kandhamal, senior IAS officer Madhusudan Padhi, has also been rejected by the state government.

Church Backs Terrorism in the North-East

There is clear evidence which confirms that some international Christian organisations are backing terrorism and separatist movements in the north-east. These church backed organisations are providing funds, arms and ammunitions with the aim of creating a separate Christian state.

Tripura

The National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) was founded in December 1989. Since its inception the NLFT has been engaged in an armed struggle to carve out a separate Christian nation – Tripura. The backing of the Baptist church right from the beginning has enabled this organisation to spread its base. Due to its terrorist activities, the organisation was banned by the government in 1997 but it continued its operations from across the Bangladesh border.

The priests of the Baptist church supply arms and ammunitions to these terrorist rebels. Nagmanlal Halam, the secretary of the Noapara Baptist Church in Tripura was arrested by CRPF in April 2000 on charges of aiding insurgents and possessing a large quantity of explosives including 60 gelatin sticks, 5kg of potassium, 2kg of sulphur and other ingredients for making powerful bombs. Two junior members of the same church, who had been arrested earlier tipped the police off about the explosives which were meant for terrorist organizations like the NLFT. Mr. Halam confessed to buying and supplying explosives to the NLFT. Another church official, Jatna Koloi, who was also arrested, admitted that he received training in guerrilla warfare at an NLFT base.

It is now apparent that the pattern of forced conversions at gunpoint are irrefutably linked to the Baptist Church in Tripura. The NLFT is accused of forcing Tripura’s indigenous tribes to become Christians and give up Hindu forms of worship in areas under their control. For decades Tripura’s indigenous tribal population has been dragged out of their homes and forced to convert to Christianity under threat of violence. Whenever any of the tribals organize Hindu festivals or rituals, the terrorist groups attack to desecrate and kill the participants. There have been incidents of issuing a ban on the Hindu festivals of Durga Puja and Saraswati Puja. The NLFT manifesto says that they want to expand what they describe as the kingdom of God and Christ in Tripura. The hill tribe ‘Jamatiya’ worship their traditional god ‘Gadiya’, who is supposed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva, in the month of March. The terrorists have issued an order that the ‘Gadiya’ be prayed on the Christmas day instead.

The Baptist Church in Tripura was set up by missionaries from New Zealand 60
years ago. It won only a few thousand converts until 1980 when a mass scale ethnic riot was engineered by the Church in which systematic ethnic cleansing of Hindu and Buddhist tribals was initiated. Thousands of women were raped and kidnapped and forced to convert to Christianity. The terrorists receive military aid from extremist Christian groups in Australia and New Zealand. They also have ongoing exchanges with Islamic terrorist and ISI who push in arms from the Bangladeshi border.

When the RSS and other Hindu organizations decided to help the Hindus under attack in Tripura by aiding them in reconversion, hundreds of the RSS volunteers were attacked, threatened and blackmailed. Several of them were murdered and a number of them were kidnapped and held hostage by the Christian terrorists. In August 2000, Swami Shantikali Maharaj, the famous Hindu sage known for his social services was killed by the terrorists. In December 2000, Lavkumar Jamatiya, the priest of the ‘Jamatiya’ tribe was killed, two Hindu temples and one Buddhist temple were destroyed and order was issued to end all non-Christian methods of praying. In the year 2001, there were 826 terrorist attacks in Tripura in which 405 persons were killed and 481 cases of kidnapping by the rebels.

Nagaland

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), a separatist organisation has two main factions. Both the factions are headed by Christians and get financial support from World Council of Churches, a missionary organisation. China provides arms and ammunitions to both the factions.

The NSCN has its offices in New York, Geneva and Hague which display boards with legend ‘Peoples Republic of Nagaland’. It has twice raised its demand for an independent nation in the United Nations. The NSCN has its own government which collects money from the local people. One third of the salaries of the government servants is taken away as Nagaland Tax before disbursement. Most of the banks in Nagaland have closed down because of the huge sums extracted by this outfit. The letterheads and stamps of this unofficial government read ‘Nagaland for Christ’.

There is evidence of NSCN having ties with the ISI. The NSCN general secretary in an interview with the English daily ‘Hindu’ accepted that they were trying to create pressure on the Indian army in the north-east so that there was less pressure from the army in Kashmir.

Meghalay

The proselytising activities of the Christian missionaries during the 150 years of patronage from the British rule have resulted in the conversion of two-thirds of the people of the state to Christianity. After independence in 1947, many of the locals started reverting to their original tribal religion and lifestyle. The natives of the Khasi hills started to once again get associated with their roots. They formed an organisation called ‘Sengkhasi’. Shri Rejoy Singh Khongsha, an important official of this organisation, at first got threats and later was abducted by North-east Red Army, a separatist and terrorist outfit known to have direct links with the church. The church has been threatening the leaders of ‘Sengkhasi’ for their connection with the Hindu organisations.

The Church in the north-east is also known to be associated with smuggling across the borders and circulation of fake currency notes. In December 1998, Bedang Tamjen, a Jemi-Naga missionary was arrested for making fake currency notes.

The most shocking fact is that the Indian media has not even mentioned these facts in their coverage. Whereas even unconfirmed rumors about any attack on Christians are immediately touted as “an assault on minorities”, not a word is spared to enlighten the Indian citizenry about the religious terrorism that is taking place in the north-east.

Diwali: Satanic Baptists want to proselytize, conquer, convert, and subjugate Hindus

Southern Baptists Declare War on Hindus – Aggressive Proselytization Campaign for Diwali

For God so loved the Baptists that He gaveth them the right to conquer, proselytize, convert, and subjugate any nation or religion, by whatever means possible, including allurement, fraud, coercion and violence. This was our first thought when we read the article in the Washington Post October 21, 1999 ? the first paper to break the news on the resolution adopted by the Southern Baptist Mission to convert Hindus to Christianity.

The Southern Baptist Mission is the largest Christian Protestant group in the United States. That it is embarking on an aggressive proselytizing campaign to convert Hindus into Christianity is a blatant act of religious intolerance and insensitivity. The Baptist Mission targets the holiest Hindu celebration of Diwali to launch this new form of religious terrorism. The fanatic group has directed its 40,000 churches to carry out its atrocious campaign to convert Hindus. In a published pamphlet, the Southern Baptists? International Mission Board asks Christians to pray for the conversion of Hindus during their holiest week, Diwali.

The pamphlet, in its very first sentence states, “More than 900 million people are lost in the hopeless darkness of Hinduism?Pray that Hindus who celebrate the festival of lights would become aware of the darkness in their hearts that no lamp can dispel.”

It describes two Indian cities as follows: “Mumbai is a city of spiritual darkness. Eight out of every ten people are Hindus, slaves bound by fear and tradition to false gods?Satan has retained his hold on Calcutta through Kali and other gods and goddesses of Hinduism. It?s time for Christ?s salvation to come to Calcutta.” ?bla?bla?bla. The usual garbage they have been hurling on us for centuries.

These are without doubt, the baneful cries of the new crusaders. It is interesting to note how history can repeat itself. Now we hear the ominous rumblings of a desperate people, and desperate people are often violent. These new crusaders ? relics of an ugly colonial age ? have fired another salvo of hate into the flanks of the Hindus. The Southern Baptists? fanatical aggressiveness is tantamount to a declaration of war, and war is synonymous with violence. Poojya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, renowned Hindu scholar, founder of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam and host of Vishwa Hindu Parishad?s first Dharma Samsad in the US states (Hinduism Today, Nov., 1999), “conversion is an act of violence?aggressive religions have no God-given right to destroy ancient faiths and cultures? it is an act of violence because it hurts deeply, not only the other members of the family of the converted, but the entire community that comes to know of it. When the hurt becomes acute, it explodes into violence?humanity cannot afford to lose anymore of its existing religious traditions.”.

But Hindus have survived over a thousand years of violence through barbarous invasions and foreign oppression. We have had Alexander ” the great” and his fearsome Macedonian army in 326 BCE and before him Demetrius, king of the Greek Empire. Muslim conquerors, from the 8th century to the middle of the 19th century, unleashed murderous campaigns against Hindus, ruthlessly slaughtered millions of people, pillaged, desecrated, and demolished Hindu temples. Millions of Hindus were forced, at sword-point, to convert to Islam or face a gruesome death. Women were raped, murdered or sold into slavery.

The Portuguese were no less cruel. A.K.Priolkar?s book “The Goa Inquisition” gives graphic accounts of how Jesuit priests forcefully and violently converted massive numbers of Hindus to Christianity. Some converted Hindus would secretly pray to their Hindu God; those who were caught were savagely beaten and thrown alive into fires. It must very clear, that unlike Christian missionaries; Hindus have never been an aggressive people. Hindu missionaries have not gone to any country, sword in hand, to convert the pagans.

In a telephone interview with Poojya Swami Aksharananda, a prominent Hindu scholar in the Caribbean on the conversion plan of the Baptists?, he says, “The Christian obsession to convert members of other faiths to Christianity is based on the assumption of the inherent unworthiness of the other. It is only when the other is remolded in an image acceptable to the missionary that the other becomes worthy. Any speech that devalues, denigrates and caricatures others is an act of violence. Missionary theology is essentially a theology of violence. It diminishes not only the victims but also its authors.”

The erudite Swami Aksharananda continues, “We must urge all enlightened peoples of the Caribbean and the world, including those few in the Christian church who are outraged by missionary behavior tantamount to obscenity and who speak so unequivocally and eloquently for justice and humanism, to take a stand. We can no longer remain silent witness to the evils of missionary conversionism and the social and cultural dislocation that it causes in the Hindu community.”

The religious intolerance of the Baptists in secular America has met with almost no rebuke from the US authorities. Had the Hindus of India done this to Christians, the US and other Christian dominated countries would have declared war. This form of pseudo-secularism or secular double standards is hypocritical. Only a few weeks ago, the US office for International Religious Freedoms Abroad, headed by a Christian, criticized India for religious intolerance towards Christians. Now it is conveniently quiet about religious intolerance in the US. In conjunction with this office, the US embassy in India (probably in other countries as well) has embarked on compiling a laundry list of incidents of Hindu intolerance. India must make it clear that it will not tolerate the US interfering in its domestic affairs. According to an Indian Express (January 7, 1999) report, “alleged” attacks on Christians living in India “could invite censure and even sanctions under a new American law which has recently come into effect.”

Therefore, the master plan is to make converts. More converts mean more funds to the church treasury. It means more control and authority over more people. Essentially, it means that the church would have better ability to engage in domination and bondage. The truth of the matter is that in India, Christian missionaries have consistently violated the country?s constitution. The Judiciary has made it clear that “the right to propagate one?s religion doesn?t imply a right to convert another person.” In their fanatic zeal to make converts, they flagrantly violate the laws of other countries as well. The Christian Church is pumping millions of dollars for the sole purpose of reaping the rewards of conversion ? to increase their flock.

To achieve the aim of conversion, missionaries spread the lies that they are doing humanitarian service to the poor and down trodden members of society. In fact they are engaged in the age-old practice of purchasing the souls of the poverty stricken with trinkets and bells, old spectacle frames, old shoes, and used clothes. Mother Theresa, the woman with bloody hands, winner of the (Christian) Noble Peace prize, and the woman who was given a state funeral in India, her organization, the Sisters of Charity, was never interested in charity. They purchased and sold the souls of India?s poorest of the poor ? converting them to Christianity. For this the Catholic Church will soon make her a Saint. It is well known that charity and philanthropy are far from the minds (if they have any) of these false prophets. Sree Raviji Maharaj (Raviji) of Trinidad (Hindu scholar and activist) says “Christians have the will, the mindset, money and lack of conscience to execute their plan and the blessing of big and powerful nations.” If their purpose was of a humanitarian nature, could not the missionaries have delivered poor Hindus from poverty and hunger without tampering with their culture and religion?

An example of how missionaries take advantage of destitute Hindus is found in a Catholic publication called India and it Missions (1923). It discusses the spiritual advantages of famine. It quotes the Archdiocese of Pondicherry to his superiors in Europe: “The famine has wrought miracles. The catechumenates are filling, baptismal water flows in streams, and startling little tots fly in masses to heaven.”

Hindus never took advantage of peoples? destitution and poverty. Hindus have opened their arms to the Jews. A large Jewish population, found refuge in India during the holocaust days, and has been allowed to practice their faith freely.

The excuse of doing humanitarian service that missionaries love to employ must be rebuked swiftly and forcefully. Lest we forget, at this moment thousands of RSS (Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh) sevaks and sevikas are giving the prime of their lives in the service of Bharat Mata (Mother India). On a country basis, the RSS is the largest social service/humanitarian organization in the world. In India alone as many as 30,000 sevakaryas are serving in 579 districts of which 10 percent are doing humanitarian health-related work and 59 percent are engaged in humanitarian educational work. At any given time the RSS can avail itself of the service of 40,000 part-time Hindu workers and 42,000 Hindu volunteers. On the average, approximately 50,000 people received support directly from the RSS sevakaryas annually. Lest, some Christians conveniently forget, RSS sevaks have arrived at the scenes of disasters in India, even faster than the local police, engaging in emergency work, at far too many places to mention. In RSS emergency and disaster relief operations, Hindu RSS has never neglected Christians and Muslims. If that is not impressive, what is? So much for those who say that Hindus do not care for their poor? And let us be clear, this is only the RSS.

If Christians set up schools and colleges, so too have the Hindus. It was Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya who set up the now famous Banaras Hindu University. Vishwa Hindu Parishad alone runs thousands of schools and other humanitarian projects in India. In Trinidad, the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha runs a number of schools. In Guyana, there were schools run by Hindu organizations until dictator Forbes Burnham nationalized them.

Perhaps the Southern Baptists have forgotten their bloody past or they pretend to do so, but Hindus remember it very well; it is etched too deeply in our psyche to be easily forgotten. It will take volumes to document all the atrocities Christians committed on humankind. But just to jog their memories a little, let?s go back to the crusades. Organized by Popes and Kings, Christian soldiers, as they swept across Europe to Jerusalem, devastated entire cities, murdering millions of men, women and children in the name of Christianity. They pretend to forget the Inquisitions, the witch-hunts when Christians plucked people from their homes and chop off their arms and burned them alive for alleged heresy. Christianity has wreaked more havoc on humanity than any other religion in the annals of history. But there?s more; remember slavery and indentureship, the World Wars, the Pogroms (organized massacre of 6,000,000 Jews), remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki?charred remains and deformed survivors, these were Christian bombs, by the way!

Was it Mark Twain who said “Among the most humorous things in this world is the White-man?s belief that he is less savage than the other savages?” And Mahatma Gandhi said “There is nothing but vilification of Hinduism in the books distributed by the missionaries?the advent of a missionary in a Hindu household has meant the disruption of the family. The missionaries are vendors of goods who target the most susceptible when they are most vulnerable, using just not dialogue but allurement and violence. If I had power and could legislate, I should certainly stop all proselytizing”.

The Secretary General of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the largest Hindu organization in the world, Dr. Pravinbhai Togadiya, in an open letter to the Bishops of India on the eve of the arrival of Rev. Pope John Paul II to India, demand an apology for the Church?s past and ongoing misdeeds perpetrated on Hindus.

India has never invaded or initiated acts of aggression against another nation. Hindus do not proselytize or convert people of other faiths to Hinduism. Yet the ranks of Hindus have grown not only in India but all over the world. More and more Westerners are embracing the teachings of Hinduism, one that teaches universal love for humanity and for the elements of nature ? the essence of our existence. Our Upanishads declare, “Ekam sad vipra buhudha vadanti” (Truth is one, the wise see it differently). Hindus never make the error of even imagining that that their way is the only way to the ultimate truth and that no further inquiry is required. Hinduism teaches unity in diversity. Hinduism is the only religion that permits co-existence. In other religions, if you do not follow their path, you are a sinner condemn to hell. Thus, even Hindus like Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda would have gone to hell.

The Southern Baptists are not a fringe group by any imagination. It was established in 1845 and claims a following of 15 million in the United States alone. They have missionaries in various parts of the world including Unites States, Canada, India, Caribbean, etc. They claim to have active missionaries in 126 nations of the world. They must be taken seriously by Hindus. Conversions have no place in a civilized society. Hinduism must be defended by any means necessary.

Pope Tells India His Church Has a Right to destroy Hinduism

When the Pope says he has a right to evangelize — that is from his point of view. But from a Hindu viewpoint, what the Pope is saying is  has the fundamental right to annihilate religion and replace it with the Catholic cult.  Even Hitler would have said, he had the right to commit genocide on Jews.  Both Hitler and the Pope are children of the same intolerant,  hate mongering Christian religion. In the  last bastion of ancient  that the pope wishes to destroy.

Pope Tells India His Church Has a Right to Evangelize
By ALESSANDRA STANLEY
Published: November 8, 1999
Summoning all his moral authority, Pope John Paul II tried today to persuade leaders of other religions here that interfaith understanding should lead them to recognize the Roman Catholic Church’s right to evangelize.

”Religious freedom constitutes the very heart of human rights,” the pope, on a three-day visit to India, said at a interreligious gathering that included Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jews and representatives of several other faiths. ”Its inviolability is such that individuals must be recognized as having the right even to change their religion, if their conscience so demands.”

But that is an argument that many religious leaders in India accept only with difficulty. Christian conversions are at the heart of a political and religious dispute that has made the 79-year-old pope’s visit a tense one. Christian proselytizing is fuel for Muslim fundamentalists, but it is also a source of uneasiness between the pope and some of his more moderate and like-minded religious peers.

”Conversions are a fundamental right,” Samdhong Rinpoche, a Buddhist monk who is the speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in exile, said after leaving the podium he shared with the pope. ”But what we fear is that between indoctrination and anybody’s inner-consciousness to choose his religion, there is a clean line.”

”Any kind of action to encourage, or to persuade or to motivate in favor of any particular religion, that is a form of conversion that we as Buddhists cannot recommend,” the monk said.

All the religious leaders who met with the leader of the Roman Catholic Church in a lecture room in the Palace of Science here praised the pope’s efforts to promote mutual respect and joint responsibility for addressing social ills. Shri Ezekiel Isaac Malekar, a New Delhi rabbi, draped a Jewish prayer shawl around the pope.

To fervent applause, Shankaracharya Madhavananda Saraswati, a moderate Hindu leader who has criticized fundamentalist protests against the visit, clasped the pope’s hand and held it high in the air, like tennis partners celebrating a Wimbledon doubles victory. Afterward, however, the Hindu leader also expressed private misgivings about Christian evangelization.

He said later that Hindus could not really ever be diverted from their original faith: ”Religion comes from the heart. Something may change outwardly, but what is inside remains with the human being forever. That does not change.”

The pope, who came to India to close a synod of Asian bishops, has declared the evangelization of Asia, where Catholics remain a tiny minority, to be one of the church’s top priorities for the next millennium. He said it was a ”mystery” why Christ is largely unknown on the continent and added, ”The peoples of Asia need Jesus Christ and his Gospel.”

In India, however, Hindu fundamentalists accuse Christian missionaries, who are most active in poor rural and tribal areas, of preying on the most susceptible in society — buying their souls with education, medical aid and economic assistance.

Anti-Christian attacks by Hindu fundamentalists, often encouraged by political extremists, have increased dramatically in the last two years, with more than 150 recorded incidents of church lootings, beatings, rapes and killings. In Orissa, the state that was recently devastated by a cyclone, a missionary and his two young children were killed in January.

The pope came to India with two agendas: He preached ardently for religious tolerance for all faiths, but also instructed his own to convert new followers. To even the mildest leaders of other religions, the two messages do not easily blend.

”Religious people are more busy with increasing the number of their followers rather than paying attention to the challenges that beset religion,” Acharya Mahapragya, head of the Jain faith, said at the podium. Speaking through a lavender-colored surgical mask — Jains are Hindus who revere all forms of life and veil their speech to prevent their breath from destroying living micro-organisms — he was the only leader, besides the pope, to address the issue of conversions publicly.

In the current climate, some Indian Catholics say, their simplest acts of charity are misunderstood. ”We help people with scholarships and medical aid,” said Bartholomew Abraham, 40, a businessman who traveled almost 1,500 miles by train to see the pope. ”If we were really bribing converts, after 2,000 years we wouldn’t still only be 2 percent of the population.”

The pope wants church leaders to adapt their pastoral style to suit the culture and customs of their native lands, and he showed the way today by presiding over a colorful sitar Mass for 40,000 worshipers in Nehru Stadium. The Mass coincided with the most important Hindu celebration of the year, Diwali, the festival of light, which was noisily celebrated all over New Delhi with fireworks. At the Mass, under a huge abstract poster of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, women in brown and gold saris danced before the altar while a choir of sitar-players performed Indian-style hymns.

Fearing disturbances during the Pope’s visit, the government tightened security throughout the city, bringing in 3,500 armed paratroopers to assist the city’s 55,000 police officers. Protests near papal venues were banned, and would-be demonstrators swiftly arrested.

But there were odd lapses. Before the Pope arrived, his bulletproof popemobile was parked, unguarded, at an entrance to the stadium, as people streamed past. Anyone carrying a ticket to the Mass could have slipped an explosive under the vehicle before passing through security.

At the altar, however, scrutiny was far more intense. One top-ranking Vatican official, who wore a cassock and had all the right credentials, was repeatedly stopped and searched by zealous security officers, a Vatican official noted. India is no stranger to assassinations by people in close proximity to the victim, including the killing of Indira Gandhi by one of her own bodyguards.

Bhai Manjit Singh Sahib, a representative of the Sikh faith, was delayed by security officers, who would not allow him to enter unless he surrendered his sword. After 25 minutes, he prevailed, walking in carrying a gleaming, four-foot silver sword, which he placed on the desk before him.

”The sword is a symbol of my religious authority,” he said indignantly after the event. ”It is not a question of security; it is a religious symbol, and I carry it with me everywhere.”

John Paul, who has symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and other ailments, looked weak and physically spent on much of the trip. Usually, the Vatican is tight-lipped about the pope’s condition. But a pamphlet about his visit prepared by the archdiocese of New Delhi described with unusual candor some of the precautions taken to accommodate the pope’s ”poor health.”

The guidebook proudly described the ”elevator platform” built behind the altar ”as he is unable to walk well or climb too many steps.” It described the chemical toilet installed for his use during the three-hour Mass event, as well as special papal thrones to enable him ”to restrict the trembling of his arm.” It also explained that the seat was specially designed to allow the pope to rise without assistance.

The passage concluded, ”An ambulance and medical staff will be on standby just behind the main altar throughout the ceremony.”

Why Christian missionaries/evangelists loved the Tsunami: Conversion attempts in the time of grief

The answer is simple. It provides them with excellent opportunity to exploit the person’s suffering and vulnerability and  convert them to Christianity and destroy the native Hindu beliefs.  Love for Jesus is hatred for Hindu gods since they look upon Hindu religin as a false and evil religion.

Conversion attempts in the time of grief

Shobha Warrier in Nagapattinam | January 24, 2005 15:45 IST

When I entered one of the rows of temporary shelters built for tsunami victims in Pattancherry village in Nagapattinam, I witnessed a minor scuffle in a corner.

Some inmates had surrounded a Christian priest and two nuns, and a war of words was going on.

“We are Hindus and we want to live as Hindus. Why do you want to convert us?” some young men shouted at the missionaries.

The priest said, “We are not here to convert people. We were only offering prayers for your peace of mind.”

But flashing some pamphlets distributed among them by the three, the inmates snorted, “What does this mean?”

The priest had no answer.

“Why do you enter our houses and pray?,” they asked. “Your nuns do this when our women are alone at home. We know how to pray.”

The young men were extremely furious. The priest was unruffled. But the nuns were shaken by the sudden surge of animosity from the muscular men.

The scuffle went on till the three were forced to leave the place.

Day two:

As I was visiting the areas close to the sea that were badly affected by the tsunami waves, I saw another angry scene outside another temple in another village.

Police jeeps were seen parked outside the temple in Samandapettai. So was a van.

Villagers were complaining to the police about a missionary group to which the van belonged.

They said the group had taken away to another place their belongings and the relief they had got from nongovernmental organisations and the government, which they had kept inside the temple, because they refused to listen to its missionaries.

“They want to try their luck at some other place. Since we resisted, they took away our things. We won’t allow this to happen,” they said. “Why don’t you arrest all of them?” the villagers asked the police.

The villagers’ torrent of angry words continued. “We have lost everything to the sea. They said they would help us if we followed their religion. What logic is this? Are they here to help us or change our religion?” The police couldn’t cool their tempers.

The group said it did not take away the belongings of the villagers and insisted that the contents inside the van belonged to it.

That evening, some villagers came with the news that the police had arrested the priest they had confronted the previous day. Apparently some angry villagers had gheraoed him, and forced the police to arrest him.

“He shouldn’t be doing this when we are grieving, when we are suffering. Everything has its time and place,” a villager said.

When I wanted to talk to the panchayat president and locals of the Karakkalmedu village at Karaikkal, they called me inside the village temple. That was where they met outsiders. The temple has become the centre of activity in the village.

Before we started talking, one of them opened the door to the sanctum sanctorum and pointed to a mark left by the strong tsunami waves. They told me that water stopped at the feet of their deity and then receded. “We might have suffered, but our Goddess saved us.”

This belief had taken the villagers all the more closer to their deity.

“That is why it hurts us when others come and tell us that it was because of our God and our belief that we suffered. We won’t let anyone exploit us when we are down,” the panchayat members asserted.

The business of Christian faith in India

The business of faith
7 Sep 2008, 0407 hrs IST, Amrita Singh ,TNN

There was a time the Christian missionary spread the word of god in a simple and direct way. He would step off a boat, make friends with locals and after years of effort, count a sizable flock.

Cut to 2008 and it’s a different scenario altogether. Church planting agencies, as they are called, have taken over the evangelical role. They ensure that growth targets are set and new churches built. There is quantifiable growth. In the four years from 2003, 22 new International Churches of Christ were built. The Adventists has concrete plans to build 500 new churches too. The Presbyterian Church of south India, which is funded by the UK-based Mission to the World, also has a goal of 500 new churches in the next decade.

The growth means the existing flock has to dig ever deeper into its pockets because the new churches are funded partly by members and partly by foreign donations. Senthil Joseph (not his real name), who goes to church occasionally, says: “Even though I am not a regular, I have to make donations for the new churches. In the last 10 years, since I moved to Delhi, 10 new churches of my (Syrian Christian) sect have come up and every time I have to pay a heavy donation.”

Most Christian denominations use the name-and-shame method to force their flock to donate generously. Joseph says: “The amount given is published in the annual telephone directory of the community for every one to see.”

The commercial thrust has made the last decade one of the most successful for the growth of Christianity in India. According to a forecast by the World Religious Council, India’s 25 million-strong Christian population could balloon five-fold by 2050.

Church planting agencies have never been busier. These agencies are described by the Indian Evangelical Mission as “specialists in taking Christianity to places where it has no presence and training people to establish new churches there.”

One of the most effective church planting agencies working in India is the US-based AD 2000 and Beyond Movement. It is impressively organized, having mapped the whole of India by caste and identifying those most likely to be receptive to their message. AD 2000 lists nine Indian tribes as Priority-I, possibly because they are so poor they’re deemed most likely to convert.

The nine tribes identified by AD 2000 are: Bhilala, Binjhwari, Chero, Kawar/Kamari, Lhoba, Majhwar, Panika, Shin or Sina, and Sikkimese Bhotia. AD 2000 identifies thickly-populated, politically important and moderately poor northern India as “the core of the core of the core”.

In a sign of some of these church planting agencies’ sense of purpose, AD 2000 has drawn up detailed plans to target all of India’s 75,000 postal pin codes with the ultimate goal of a church in each.

So, how do church planters work in the 21st century when the days of the itinerant missionary are long gone? Helen, a missionary who has worked among Bhils in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh says the first step is to send a reconnaissance team to the target area to find out if a church is already under construction. The team would also need to study the area and understand its problems.

Armed with this basic information, modern missionaries are expected to work out a sound socio-economic plan for the area. This could include simple things to make the lives of locals better, such as starting a school, a health centre, new self-help groups. It is only after a minimum of five years of such groundwork that a Christian denomination actually starts to talk to local leaders about building a church.

The proposed church would initially be paid for by bigger ones in the cities but it is expected to become self-supporting and entirely locally-managed within 15 years. After that, it is time for the missionary to move on and adopt a new place.
